Not sure if you feel comfortable doing this, but if the people who recently got accepted off the waitlist are comfortable sharing their general concentration areas, that'd help us other waitlisters (since the waitlist is by specialization and not priority).

Just a suggestion: If people still thinking about whether to accept Virginia's offer or not are able to let UVa/Paul know before 3:30PM on Thursday, that would give him time to contact waitlisters before they have to accept their second-choice programs (since most programs cut off at 5PM that day). I know this won't always be possible (especially if you're waiting to hear from your own waitlisted schools), but just wanted to make the suggestion...

Am also waiting "at the top" on the waitlist. Hoping people with offers make their decisions soon so this doesn't come down to a deadline decision...

I got a letter accepting me into Nebraska's PhD but telling me "no funding, limited TA positions were already handed out". Then I got an email 1.5 weeks later telling me that I got a TA position with $15000/year--so if you're interested in the program, hold on.

Do not do this in order to get into a PhD program "the next time around". It's possible, but consider a metaphor for the MAPH that I found: "I wrote a book and sent it around to all the major publishers. None of them wanted to publish it, but HarperCollins wrote me back and said that their self-publishing imprint, HarperVanity, would publish the book if I would assume all production and marketing costs. This would cost about 100k. They didn't say that this would make it more likely that they'd publish my next effort, but it probably would. Should I do it?"
