  1. Has anyone else heard from Saint Mary's University (SMU) in Halifax, Nova Scotia? I am trying to decide between universities, and am hoping to connect with people who are also considering SMU.
  2. I applied to UCF"s Master's program, but I also haven't heard anything yet either. Hopefully, they haven't sent out the interview invitations and/or offers yet.
  3. Unfortunately, I don't think that Guelph, Calgary, Western, or Waterloo have wait-lists. I was told by my POI at Waterloo that they usually give out about 10 offers because about 50 percent of people accept them, and they aim for a class size of about 5. Also, I know that Guelph contacts several short-listed candidates that they would like to interview, and then gives out offers/visiting day invitations to a subset of them. Thus, I think that even if they had a wait-list (which I doubt), it would consist of the people who were short-listed but not extended offers/visiting day invites. Generally, I think that Canadian I/O schools take the possibility of offer declines into account when deciding how many offers to extend. Thus, If you haven't been contacted by any of the four schools listed above, it's extremely likely that you won't be extended an offer. Saint Mary hasn't even started to send out their offers though, and I think that they have a wait-list because I was told that they rank their applicants. In addition, I believe that someone actually received an offer two years ago in March or April because additional funding was made available, so you still definitely have a shot at SMU.
  4. Hey, Calgary, Western, Waterloo, and Guelph have emailed their short-listed and/or accepted applicants. Calgary and Western both held their visiting day this past weekend, and I believe that Guelph will be holding theirs at a date later this month. Also, Waterloo's visiting day is on March 2nd. Saint Mary has not yet officially sent out any emails to let their applicants know whether or not they will be given an offer of admission. That being said, I actually emailed my prospective supervisor at SMU on Friday, and he told me that the I/O faculty met that afternoon to finalize their assessment and ranking of applicants. He actually told me that I would be extended an offer. Thus, I think that you can email your prospective advisor at SMU to get information about your status, but I think that you will hear back soon, regardless. Good luck!
  5. I got an acceptance email from them yesterday afternoon. Good luck!
  6. Congratulations on getting into Calgary and Western, I've heard that they are two of the best schools in Canada for I/O research. I don't think that we should be too worried about Guelph given that emails were sent out at the end of January last year. Guelph is one of my top choices so I'm really hoping to hear back from them.
  7. Congratulations! Sorry to ask, but would you be willing to DM me your prospective supervisor?
  8. Hey! I'm a Canadian applicant as well, and I also haven't heard from any of the Canadian public universities I applied to, namely Waterloo, Western, Guelph, and Saint Mary's. I emailed Waterloo about a week and half ago, and they said that they were still in the process of reviewing applications but expected to be done relatively soon. Given the "relatively soon," they may have already out a few interview offers, but let's hope that's not the case. Saint Mary's department said that they would be sending out admission decisions in February. In regards to Guelph, I was short-listed by the department last year, and was only emailed on January 30th to schedule an interview. So there's definitely still hope for Guelph. I haven't heard anything from Western, unfortunately. Let me know if you get any news from the aforementioned universities! Good luck!
  9. I applied to UCF, and have yet to hear anything. It's still pretty early though, so I wouldn't be too worried about a lack of communication from them.
  10. That's good to hear. I was getting pretty worried, but I'm glad to hear that I may not have missed either university's wave of offers. I saw in the 2016 thread that someone had received a rejection from Saint Mary's at the end of the January, so I assumed that they would be trying to schedule interviews for short-listed candidates at about this time. Waterloo and SMU are two of my three top programs, so I'm glad that there's still hope. Thanks for your response!
  11. Hey Imposter_Me, I'm a Canadian applicant, and I've applied to a total of 7 universities: - University of Waterloo - Saint Mary's University - Western University - University at Albany - Adler University - University of Guelph - University of Central Florida The only university I've heard back from is Adler University. It's a non-profit, private institution that specializes in Psychology graduate programs - it's by far the easiest school (of the 7) to get into. I applied to their master's of Organizational psychology program (my other 6 applications are to I/O). They interviewed me for one hour, and then extended me an offer a few days later. I was also short-listed by the University of Guelph last year, and invited to the university, after a successful phone-interview. Typically, short-listed applicants will be asked to participate in a phone/Skype interview, and then be extended invitations to the university if that goes well. Also, although not in my case, if you receive an invitation to visit the university you will likely receive an official offer as well. So, the first thing you would have to prepare for is the interview. Between the two interviews, I've been asked questions on a variety of topics from past group-work experiences to my reasons for wanting to pursue graduate study in I/O. I hope this helps! Good luck!
  12. Hi Everyone, I've also sent out all 7 of my applications, yet the only university I have heard back from is the private institution, Adler University. I'm a Canadian applicant and would appreciate it if anyone could tell me whether they've heard back from either Waterloo or Saint Mary's. Thanks in advance.
