ARGH. I'm clinging to the idea that it is something Angela might have said just so that we don't expect anything until then. Support for my (delusional?) hope:

    • They seem to be dead on track with last year's timeline, in which 1-year acceptances began February 21 and then 2-years began a month later, but she had told an applicant (see first quote, below) that people would know by the end of April.
    • In 2016, she gave a similar response to a forum member 2.5 weeks after a couple of 2-year applicants had already been accepted.
    • The year before, there was quite a bit of conflicting information from her in that she said in early March that the admissions committee hadn't even begun going through (the 800+) applications and then a few people were accepted that very week.

(Highly relevant aside: I clearly need to get a life.)

Did she specifically say that we would have NO NEWS at all until April or that decisions would be sent out BY mid-April?

Have you ever considered the position as an Investigator as a line of work? Hahaha. All jokes aside, you are awesome and I hope you hear soon.

Well, it’s official. Just got the waitlist email from Carleton.

My status hadnt changed yet but I’m assuming it will (as the email says) in the next few minutes.

Congrats to everyone who gets in!! And I guess letms all cross our fingers that it moves at least a bit.

Fingers crossed you make your way down the wait list!

I know for advanced standing it mentions TAship possibilities right in the admission letter so if it doesn't mention it in yours then it may not be an option.

It seems like in my letter it was a generalized blurb about this being a possibility. I have just seen from someone else's reply on here that they are only given to three students with the top GPA's (which makes sense, because in all honesty mine is average)

  4. Hi everyone, I received my acceptance from Carleton University 2-year MSW today around 1pmEST! I AM IN SHOCK. I received the email and the decision was immediately reflected in Carleton Central.

It is my first time applying and I didn't think I would get in.

I was offered a $6000 scholarship. I was not offered a TAship, which I was hoping for. Does anyone know if this is even an option for a foundational year student?

I'm hoping for everyone else's acceptances and looking forward to hearing about them! Hope to meet fellow classmates as well!

Did your status change on Carleton too? I’m pretty sure the second review in progress indicates an acceptance, otherwise it would be “not recommended for assessment”... I think...

It is changed on Carleton central at the moment. I doubt there I will see any progress over the weekend, yet I am checking over and over!

Same here! Nothing has changed on my end. <_<

I stand corrected! I just checked again despite checking three times today already and it has changed to "Review in Progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs"

Check again, it only happened in the last hour!

  7. Hi everyone! First of all, congratulations to those who have already received acceptances! And to those who have faced some rejections, I am sure there are acceptances coming your way!

I only applied to Carleton's MSW 2 year and I am still on the "review in progress by department"! It's become a joke between my partner and I Everytime I check it now. I am hoping to hear good news! Holding out is so hard

  8. @smntoronto I am planning to apply to the Carleton MSW foundation year program! I currently have around 4850 hours of work - as for not sure whether or not to rapply, I really can't say!  I think a lot of new grads are in the dark about how requirements are weighted when it comes down acceptance. Perhaps you have more experience you are not counting? I think a lot of experiences can be worthy of their hours when applying.
