I received an advanced standing offer from Laurier this morning! It came to my email. On LORIS after clicking on "Masters of Social Work" that was updated as well, and is where I formally accept the offer. I can't believe my wait is finally over.. hopefully more people find out soon!
Some background context: I completed my BSW at Renison, (was originally waitlisted there and Lakehead, got an offer from Lakehead but declined it to accept a part time place at Renison.) I have 5000+ hours between developmental services/seniors supports and addictions/mental health, 92 average in my BSW. If there is anything this whole journey taught me it is definitely that the timing doesn't always make sense in the moment, but things happen when they are supposed to. I had two rejections in previous years for other programs, two BSW waitlists, and rejections for the two year programs at U of T, and Laurier... so I've definitely experienced my share of rejection and disappointment. But everything happens for a reason, and I'm so glad that those rejections lead me to increasing my work experience and skill, and I know myself so much better than previous years.
So, if this isn't the year it happens for any of you don't lose faith! Social work isn't an easy path, but it will certainly work out the way it is meant to!

Haha . Well, if I ever actually get into grad school, I'll hopefully become a Principal Investigator.
(That right there, folks, was a 4:00am research grant joke. Yup.)

Have you ever considered the position as an Investigator as a line of work? Hahaha. All jokes aside, you are awesome and I hope you hear soon.

To any of the Carleton 2-years still waiting on some information...I got this e-mail from Stephanie today...
Email sent to all applicants who have been sent an offer of admission. Congratulations on your offer of admission to the MSW. I am getting a few emails from some of you, and I have not had time to reply. We are still sending a few more offers, and once that is completed, I will send a more comprehensive email to you all in the hopes of addressing many of your questions. We do not know the schedule of our classes for the fall and winter yet, but it will be available to you on May 22.  If you click on the Public Class Schedule from this page - https://central.carleton.ca/ you can view when our courses are offered this year.
Tuition Fees for 2018-19 are not available yet, but if you view last year’s Tuition Fees, you will get an idea - https://carleton.ca/studentaccounts/tuition-fees/
You might also find the Tuition Fee Estimator helpful - https://central.carleton.ca/prod/pkg_online_fee_assess.p_main
Our MSW Handbook (2017-18) is available on this page - https://carleton.ca/socialwork/current-students/ and we will be updating it over the next few weeks.

Same! It sucks a bit. I know you're an advanced standing applicant but any chance you know how many people get put on the wait list for either stream?

Awesome, congratulations! That's incredible... you got the maximum funding too. Only three students with the top GPA's get the TAships, so it's definitely tough.

So exciting to see an acceptance!!
For everyone else, I'm right there with you! On Carleton Central, it says it is still be reviewed by the faculty of graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs! No change in mine since late Friday (approximately near 5pm). I'm hoping for some sort of change today!

Is anyone else still checking all the portals even though it’s a long weekend and nothing is going to happen??? I can’t help myself, hahaha.

    Hey everyone,
I've been a longtime lurker and decided to post and provide an update. So I heard back from the University of Waterloo's MSW program on February 14th. I was accepted on Quest, and received an e-mail offer of admission on February 16th. Their program is quite new but I was attracted to it because it is mostly online and is health-focused, with a more holistic approach to health (i.e. not strictly clinical).
Like many of you, I am also anxiously waiting to hear back from U of T's advanced standing program (I chose the Health and Mental Health stream). Congratulations to those of you who have already heard back from some of the schools. To those of you who are disappointed or discouraged: It took me three years to get an MSW acceptance. Not all of our paths will be the same, but please know that it is still possible, even if you're being rejected by your dream programs. I decided to go back to school for a BSW last year, as I thought that would increase my chances and it has payed off. Remember that whatever happens, a rejection this year does not mean that you are not going to be a social worker. I was super discouraged after being wait-listed two years in a row to 2 year MSW programs. I was told along the way that in the end, it's a mixture of chance, luck, and having the right credentials according to the applicant pool through which you are being compared. Being wait-listed or rejected doesn't mean you are not fit for the job <3 It might mean more time and effort in strengthening your application, but it is still possible!

Same here! I spoke with Stephanie yesterday who said all acceptances will be coming out in waves over the "next few days". That may include Monday. So at least we'll know very soon
