  1. Regarding the posted date, I think the system might use GMT regarding the date added. If the user just wasn't paying attention and didn't select the correct decision date that might explain it. I don't know for sure though.
  2. I thought the "prestige/top 10" argument was as controversial as we'd get, but I have a feeling this GRE debate is going to occupy our attention until we start getting results on Monday.
  3. 167 as a non-native is great! Be confident of that for your other applications.
  4. I have friends looking to apply next year as international students and I know that the Verbal and AWA is something definitely lurking in their minds. Thankfully non-english speakers aren't held to the same standard as us native speakers. Still, the GRE seems inherently flawed for this reason (although so is GPA due to grade inflation in some countries vs others).
  5. Until someone claims it, I won't put much stock in them. Very well could be real though, but it could also easily be a troll considering how easy it is to post results.
  6. Could be, but it could be the PSR troll is reading this thread.
  7. I've seen both 'Professor' and 'Person', but same thing in the end!
  8. They sent out open house invites early in the week. 34 of the 40 invitees will be accepted and the rest wait listed according to their email.
  9. I'd be surprised if a school sent out an acceptance after 6 p.m. local. Not that it never happens, but I think most come during standard business hours. So we still have time for Nothwestern this week, but I'm thinking early next week at this point.
  10. Even if they do notify based on subfield, would they really notify one subfield on a Friday and leave the rest hanging? I guess they might, but I'd hope not. That would fall under cruel and unusual punishment!
  11. The final couple of hours on a Friday are miserable while waiting to hear back! As each hour goes by I look further west. I'm getting the feeling that we can expect most schools to be a couple of days later than previous years for whatever reason.
  12. By far the worst part of waiting for me is the time between seeing a new email in my inbox and reading that it's some generic newsletter of no importance. The amount of adrenaline released in that half second is astounding!
  13. I think the earliest would be 2 weeks from now, at least given past years.
  14. @BFB Thanks for making an appearance here. I've read through all of the faculty perspectives thread, and want to say thank you for all the help. Your insights have been helpful not only through the application process, but now through waiting on the admissions decisions!
  15. Sorry, by WashU does that mean St. Louis?
  16. I think a good way of approaching that topic might be to ask when you can expect to hear about funding decisions. That way if they already know, they'll likely just tell you, and if they're still sorting things out you get a better sense of what time to expect to hear from them again. Congrats on the acceptance!
  17. I also applied. Didn't realize they were one of the January one's, now I'm looking forward to that!
  18. I'm really hoping Northwestern comes through this week, although given the later results than normal this year I'm starting to think next week. I didn't apply there, but UT Austin seems to notify late January most years as well.
  19. Alright, this thread is getting far too negative and personal. I think it might be best if everyone takes a chill pill for the evening on it and we return to discussing decisions tomorrow. But that's just me, carry on if you must.
  20. I think it's happening now because we're all playing through different scenarios in our head while we sit uncomfortably waiting to hear back. What if I get into these 3 schools? What about these other 2? I like x city more than y city, but the school in x is ranked 11 places lower than y. What if this other combo of schools lets me in? How much should the work of Professor A mean to me over Professor B compared to the rankings? It's natural at this point to gauge potential options, at least for me this type of discussion actually helps keep me sane. I'm jealous of those of you who can actually relax and not think about it though!
  21. I'm in IR, and I unfortunately have no idea regarding your questions about the amount of people they're interviewing or when the results come out, sorry!
  22. Department, it was sent out by the DGS.
  23. I haven't posted either result to the results page yet, but I can happily claim an interview at University of Washington and George Washington University!
  24. I'd be cautiously optimistic on it. I think it means you're for sure on the short list and seriously being considered. However, they might be attempting to evaluate the financial offer they can provide to different candidates. I would probably just email the department and ask.
  25. To add another school to look out for, Northwestern might send out admits towards the end of the week. Given past years it might be the week after though. Still waiting on GWU, anybody know if they're switching up their system this year or just running a bit late?
