  1. I totally agree! I realised even after finally submitting my apps 2 weeks ago, I have had so much trouble going to sleep (think 4am vs my usual 12-1am) because I just spend my time wondering what to do when my apps flunk...I go to the gym fairly regularly but even that isn't helping me so I just end up going to work extra tired the next day At this point in time I'm not sure what would be worse, not getting a response or getting a negative one eh
  2. I'm currently working as a Research Assistant, so applying was twice as hard since I practically could only work on my apps at night and some weekends...I ended up losing a lot of sleep because I spent too long in the night worrying about the apps and having to wake up early for work...now I'm planning to catch some zzzs and get my head back into my experiments!
  3. Ah well, the prof who had missed all my emails apologised and sent in all thr LORs today...the other one who was going to be away scolded me really badly and I don't know if he will submit anything or not. Guess that's a stall for another year then. And a rush to find another recommender in the future...
  4. I am quite a pickle too! One of my recommenders submitted to all 5 schools on 30th Nov and now I'm waiting on the other 2. One has explicitly stated that he's on holiday, so I'm probably going to email him tomorrow to ask when he's back (he told me this on 27th Nov). The other one hasn't replied to me since 23rd Nov! I know it was Thanksgiving weekend, but I also emailed him on the 1st and the 4th of Dec, so I'm really not sure what is happening. 2 of my deadlines were 1 Dec, one was Dec 6 and the other 2 are this weekend, so I'm hoping he can make a miracle by this weekend! I have 4 more schools that I'm applying to in Jan and I need his letters there too, so I really don't want to piss him off right now by badgering too much...is it okay to email him again today (3 days after the prev one)?

I also have a middle author pub from this lab.Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Academic Director of the Life Science Society for 1y (arranged talks for the students by professors etc) Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help:Special Bonus Points: Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter:Applying to Where:Harvard - BBS John Hopkins - Cellular and Molecular Medicine Duke - Molecular Cancer Bio Rockefeller - David Rockefeller Graduate program in bioscience Vanderbilt - IGP UNC - BBSP Cambridge - Oncology Oxford UofToronto Honestly when I'm looking at all the other profiles here, I'm really just very worried that I've applied to too many reach schools where I'm probably not going to make a mark on the admissions. I had applied to JHU and Duke last year (Neuroscience) with similar stats (before my cancer bio job) and was rejected by the both of them so I'm not sure if this additional year is going to make a change. I am considering applying to Masters programmes instead to maybe get a better profile before I apply...
  6. I don't quite remember my practice test scores (I took my GRE in 2015 Dec) but I think they were something like this: ETS Prep 1 (before starting my prep): 160Q 155V 4.5 AW ETS Prep 2 (after 1 month of intense prep): 164Q 158V 4.5 AW Actual Test: 168Q 167V 5.5 AW I think I was so shocked with my scores I stared at the com screen for a few seconds before realising one of the admin ladies at the test centre was standing behind me to usher me out of the room lol...with 1 month to practice I really spent bulk of my time (1-2h a day) memorising new vocab and 4-5h every weekend practicing essays. My math has always been my strongest subject so I mostly did some practice questions for time management purposes. I still think I might have gotten lucky with the test that day but I have no interest in trying it out again!
