  1. Hey! I emailed another school that I previously confirmed an interview with and they were SUPER nice about switching my interview date due to another interview conflict. I was just super nice and appreciative and expressed my interest in their program. Even though the weekend I requested was already full, the committee still let me switch so it honestly depends on the school and the committee, but from my understanding, most schools are understanding of interview conflicts. Best of luck to you!
  2. My undergraduate GPA was pretty low at 3.54. I worked in the same lab from my second semester of freshman year until I graduated and included some summers... I just say 2 and 1/2 years excluding the year of PREP
  3. Hi there! I was a chemistry major in undergrad (With a concentration in biochem) I graduated in 2016, taught hs honors biology for a year, worked in hospital pharmacy and in a pharmacology lab for the 2nd year. I am currently in PREP at AECOM and in an immunology lab, while applying to PhD programs I have only been in this immunology lab since June 2018, but I have 4 interviews (I'm hopeful that I'll end up with 6-7 by the end of the cycle) It's really about getting research experience and making sure your skills are transferable. If you want a degree, that would definitely ease the transition. I definitely heard back from Duke and was told that I needed more micro lab experience to be more competitive for micro PhD programs, but was offered an interview with UW in Seattle, so honestly it depends on the committee and your LORs let me know if you have any questions and good luck with everything!
  4. NYU is Jan 10-11 (a few of my PREP cohort members applied and one heard back so far)
  5. Has anyone heard from Boston University Umbrella GMS program?? (Microbiology)
  6. University of Washington: Jan 27-29 UPitt: 01/31-02/03 WUSTL: 02/07-02/09 UChicago: 02/14- 02/16 Still hoping to hear back from UNC BBSP since I was invited to Preview Weekend and met with them at ABRCMS instead. also waiting for CSU (invites will be sent out via Skype by Jan 14th and interviews in February) and possibly Boston University, but I think they sent out invites today. No longer hopeful about Emory or Columbia Duke sent out all MGM invites already.
  7. I got an invite 12/14 for either Jan 24-26 or Feb 14-16 I'm micro and immunology
  8. I fear rejection is imminent at this point I have received an interview from one school, and they haven't contacted me since the interview, which was about 4-5 weeks ago I did email them to check in and they have been out because of snow and then the entire committee came down with the flu, so they haven't made any decisions yet. But I am trying to think ahead, since the other 3 schools haven't said anything. I applied to NYU, Weill Cornell, Rockefeller, Icahn, Albert Einstein, and NYMC I've been rejected from Rockefeller and Icahn. I've been interviewed by NYMC I've heard nothing from the others. I just don't feel so hopeful about it. So what types of jobs did you take during the year to bolster your research/ grad work experience and make the most of the time you have? *until the next cycle of applications* I have over 5 years experience of lab work. 3 years in a university lab with the same PI 2 years in high school with a local university I also have 1 and 1/2 year of experience in hospital lab work, chemotherapy training and pharmacy compounding. I am interested in pursuing a PhD in Microbiology I was going to pharmacy school until my senior year of college and then I became a high school biology teacher for a year and almost killed myself because our education system IS AWFUL and that's a different story. I'm 24. Ready to start my PhD, but also ready to figure out how to make myself more competitive and figure out what type of jobs to pursue until a school accepts me. Thanks in advance for any advice!
  9. I'm applying for PhD in Microbiology/Immunology with them. thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.
  10. Waiting on NYU, Albert Einstein, Weill Cornell. So 99.9% sure that I was rejected... I just wish it didn't feel so sad and devastatingly depressing.
