  1. Is there anybody here who has received decisions from every application and knows where he'll accept?
  2. When were you accepted at GaTech and Michigan? I haven't heard from them... Do you have any info? What's your first choice?
  3. The chemical engineering department of Princeton has a truly ugly website and I don't understand why: http://www.princeton.edu/cbe/
  4. 5th of March is a long time from now. You thank them and wait for other offers.
  5. Thanks for your answer. I am leaning towards UT Austin atm. I live in a sunny country and I think Ithaca will be harsh for me.
  6. I do know that acceptances have been sent from Purdue, but I don't know if they have sent them all.
  7. I haven't heard any answer for almost a month, and it is getting quite late in the game, but it is really weird. I am waiting for 5 answers and it would be nice if they sent something.
  8. I have an offer from UT Austin, that states that I will earn x amount of dollars annually paid to me monthly. Does anybody know if this amount is divided by 12 or 9 months?
  9. I am an chemical engineering applicant and I am between Cornell and UT Austin. Austin is ranked higher but Cornell is an Ivy, so I don't know. Of course, I am not going to make a decision based only on that...

    Austin, TX

Guys, what's a good yearly stipend to live comfortably (I mean with no worries if you're gonna make it) in Austin?
  11. Do you guys believe that the general ranking of a university (not only its ranking for the specific program) may influence positively or negatively the "value" of a PhD? I am quite concerned about rankings but I don't really know how this works.
  12. @hodictator I have been accepted at Cornell. I don't know if they send acceptances in waves though. Visiting days are in the last days of March-1st April.
  13. So, maybe, shortlisted is more high on the list and, thus, more likely to be accepted. But, I am not really sure about that.
  14. @eln well, you are not admitted but you are not rejected. If one or more students that got accepted choose not to attend, you may take their place. The number of applicants that are shortlisted are not known, though, so you don't know what may happen.
  15. @Pancakes Applied: UT Austin, Princeton, UMichigan, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Cornell, USC, Yale Accepted: UT Austin, Cornell Rejected: Princeton Interviewed: Yale
  16. @Pancakes I see. Great schools. I am also interested in computational stuff mostly and I have applied in some. I think UT-Austin is my first choice right now, though.
  17. They haven't notified me but the deadline was in mid-January, so I guess it's okay.
  18. Princeton rejected me but I have 2 acceptances so far. Still waiting for 5 more universities but I do not know what I am going to do
  19. I am not in the social sciences, but if you want my opinion, I would go for the best university. Why would you just "survive" in an Ivy? You were chosen by the committee, so they think that you can handle it. I believe that you should choose your best fit and you will be just fine anywehere!
  20. @Pancakes To which programs have you applied? Results so far?
  21. Naaaah, I had no acceptances. Just a rejection from Princeton -.-
