  1. I'll be attending the PhD program for physics starting this August. I'm really excited to move to Tallahassee but am also trying to figure out housing. It seems like its easier to find nice places that had 2+ bedrooms and are relatively close to campus. What is everyone planning on doing?
  2. I'm still waiting on a few schools, unfortunately one of the ones I'm waiting on is one that I applied late too. I've tried to contact the graduate coordinator and even the professor who had contacted me about my application but I haven't heard back. Fortunately the school I got in to is giving me till the end of the month to decide. With the amount of money they charge for applications they could at least return a phone call.

I recently was accepted to the physics PhD program at Iowa State University and was curious to know more about Ames, IA. I hear its a small town that mainly exists because of the school but I wanted more specifics about the feel of the town and if there are fun things to do. I went to school in Boston and now live in Los Alamos, NM so I've had quite the range from big college city to very small, boring town. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Finally got accepted somewhere. Not my dream school but a great opportunity and after all the rejections I've been getting, I'll gladly take it. Keep up hope everyone still waiting, I thought all hope was lost but somehow I got in.
  5. So far I'm 0 for 6 and still waiting on 8. I'm tempted to email some of the programs to find out about my status, but I think I'd prefer to continue to wait and maintain a little hope rather than being told I'm not getting accepted. I thought undergraduate application decisions were random, graduate schools seem twice as random and far less efficient.
