To the person who called Northwestern, bless you, you kind soul!

Hey @gopxgo, sorry, I don't see anything on the results page.

I know I shouldn't be surprised but some of these are criminally low.

A vent / question: how do you deal with people who don't "get it" re: applying to grad school?
To the people who know you well enough to deserve a real answer, I would put it simply: I hope to lead a meaningful life, and this is what is meaningful to me. If you want to explain it in more quantitative terms, you might mention that we spend the majority of our lives at work, so it makes sense to pursue a job that you find challenging and more than just a source of income or stability. More recently I'd be inclined to say this is the only rat race I can stand...

For acquaintances, I tend to laugh it off with a self-deprecating joke—y'know, how you've always wanted a career with low pay, little recognition, and no demand? That kind of thing.

@wheresmysnow Radio silence for the Slavists, what can you do? I'm in comparative literature but my area is Central Europe (Czech and German).

Then, honestly, in grad school I encountered Žižek and nothing has ever been the same since.
Shout-out to our good comrade Slavoj!

@Arendtlover I was thinking the same thing! Should be any day now.

Glad to see some applications to Duke! For those who end up taking an offer, feel free to message me with any questions on the Triangle or UNC–Chapel Hill.

Hey y'all, I also applied to comparative literature programs: UChicago, Harvard, Maryland, Northwestern, NYU, and UPenn. No results yet. I study comparative literary history in the twentieth century. Where else did you apply, @ranny820? Would you mind sharing a few details on your UCSB interview?

There are separate sheets! I didn't even notice!
Edit: Okay, I see what you mean now. Here's hoping some of us get the chance to update the comp lit tab.
