great news! Thank you for keeping up posted.
Is that stats or biostats? PhD or MS? In case you're talking about PhD in Stats, @Bayesian1701 heard from them already... she's from TX IIRC, wonder if that has something to do ?
@devbioboy Just heard back from them. Grad loft in Wolf Ridge are for single students only.
Do you have an opinion about the area near Western Manor? Is it a safe place overall? How does it compare with ES King in terms of safety? It's unfurnished, so I'll need to figure out how to buy a bed as soon as I get off the plane
Same here... three rejections this week, and many of the pending unis had been rolling out acceptances for a while... One school accepted me (fully funded), it does feel bad anyway...
Your opinion on Jackson St. agrees with what I have read in most websites. Wolf Ridge is beautiful and I'd love to go there, but they don't allow families (and they don't have any free graduate loft anymore).
Thanks for the input, it's been very helpful!
Thanks for the details! Also, congrats for your results, TAMU is #8 in the US News ranking (stats). You must have a nice CV and you're certainly good at making school list too!
Thank you a lot @devbioboy ! This is quality input indeed Do you know how safe is ES King's neighbourhood? I saw the crime mapping in the NCSU Police website but I could use a first hand impression here.
Rhynes Gate and Kensington Park look quite nice at a quick glance, I'll definitely take a deeper look at them all. Unfurnished is OK as long as they come with basic kitchen equipment. It's reassuring to know that some grad students already live there, otherwise it feels like you don't know where you'll end up.
@Bayesian1701 You've heard back from TAMU, so I thought I'd check this out with you.
I applied via mathprograms.org as suggested. After that, I never got an email confirming that my application was successfully submitted or a user/pass/link to check my status. I only get to see the following screen:
Is that all or am I missing something?
Did anyone here live in ES King Village Apartments or Western Manor? Reviews about ES King Village are ruthless, and Western Manor is unfurnished which makes it a bit more difficult for an international student moving to the US.
More generally, I'm looking for advice on renting a two-bedroom apt in a safe area close to the wolf line. King Village would be fine if it didn't look that scary.
Why is the yield for NCSU so low? Why would they get declined so often? They rank 10 (tied) in the last US News Rank, their stipend is competitive (USD 18k for nine months), the city/weather looks fine.
Also, haven't heard from UT Austin and TAMU, but you did. Guess I'm informally out of the game for them.
