  1. I don't mean to crush your optimism here, but Rutgers has had several years where they didn't even go to the waitlist at all. It seems to me that getting waitlisted by them is more like a consolation prize than anything else.
  2. So I still haven't heard anything at all from UCLA, and it's been about 24 hours since all of those waitlist emails were reported. Anyone else in the same situation? I'm starting to get nervous about the possibility that they've forgotten about me.
  3. A few waitlist emails from UCLA were just reported. To anyone who received one: Firstly, congratulations! Secondly, what did the email look like (e.g. was it personalized, was it a generic letter, did it contain any information about the waitlist)? I still haven't heard anything back from UCLA at all, so I'm trying to figure out whether or not they've sent out emails to everyone who was waitlisted.
  4. Yup, the same exact thing happened to me. Still no sign of an email, I guess it must have been some kind of hiccup in their system. If I hadn't known to check their online portal thanks to Grad Cafe, I would still have no idea that a decision was available.
  5. Thanks for your kind words! I was kind of expecting a rejection from them anyway, so I'm not all that upset about it, but nice replies like this really help too. I'm going to try not to get my hopes up, since it seems very possible that a rejection letter will go up later today, but a waitlist from UCLA would be fantastic. Fingers crossed!
  6. Yale hasn't sent out emails about this yet, but it looks like rejections have now been posted to their website. I had one waiting for me just now on the Yale website. Also, has anyone else who applied to UCLA still not received a decision? Several people have reported getting rejections from UCLA today, but I still have no sign of an email and there's no decision for me on the application website.
  7. Pittsburgh also had Karl Schafer working in early modern philosophy a few years ago, but he's at Irvine now. I'm still somewhat surprised that they haven't brought on anyone else who works in EM in the time since he left, but I'm sure that they will eventually. It sounds like you have a tough choice ahead of you based on the strength of Toronto in EM and the overall strength of Pittsburgh... But also, that's an amazing choice to get to make!
  8. Based on past years, this sounds about right. Unfortunately, they don't seem to typically tell people that they are on the waitlist, but will instead just delay in sending decisions to a small number of people. I'm not really sure what the point of that is, but my guess is that anyone who doesn't receive a rejection at the same time as everyone else can take himself/herself to be on an invisible waitlist.
  9. Their POI may have sent them a personalized email regarding their rejection. It's rare, but that does sometimes happen, and it may explain some anomalies like that. Either way, I wouldn't let it concern you too much, since it probably doesn't have much bearing on when the bulk of the decisions from a given school will come out.
  10. By the looks of it, a bunch of decisions from Penn State went out today. Seems like it was mostly rejections, but one person says that they received an acceptance.
  11. Same here, made an account to claim an offer of admission from UC Irvine. Still waiting for the formal offer and details about funding.
