I asked them and they said that the committee meeting was in Feb and the results will be given at the end of March, so we will have to wait like a month more haha

    Waaah! what a torture. :< I can't believe it!!!!!!!

    Which is your status now?

Last year they informed me on Feb 21st that I was rejected. So I wonder why this year it is taking so long....

I still think they'll inform us until end of Feb. It is unsettling they didn't change the Status tho.

Right now my application is on Paper Copies Recieved....since the beginning of Oct. :(

We have the same issue i think, i applied for MSc in forestry and the status is still on "paper copies received".
is it safe to say that we've failed to get the scholarship ?

I wouldnt lose hope yet. there is some time left. when did they say to you that you'll get the result?

My status just changed to "Preselection Made". Not sure what that means, though. lol

It could be a good sign? Maybe the put you in their second round...when the status goes to "selection made",it takes up a week and you'll get the result i suppose.

  5. Status on "paper copies received" since November now, idk why it's so unsettling although the mail at the application day said, they'd decide and inform us 3 weeks after January. I applied for Scholarship for Masters in the field of architecture.

I love this thread. I found it a while ago, and I think a lot of you can relate to how much I love being able to post on here with happy news. I also know the feeling of utter dread waiting for this moment, but hold on. And if it doesn't work out this year, study/work/volunteer and try again.

Undergrad GPA was 3.009 -- literally the cutoff mark listed for a lot of schools. And I just found out I got into University of Michigan's Masters in Urban Planning program. Maybe it's the only school I'll get into, but I don't care.

I don't know who this helps at this point (maybe for a future reader), but I studied hard for the GRE (164V/160Q/4.0W), had strong LORs (2 professional, 1 academic), worked my a** off in a nonprofit for about 3 years (I seriously gave it my everything. I also switched teams halfway through so I grew my interdisciplinary skills), did a short but intense post-baccalaureate at UC Berkeley, and worked on my SOP for a couple of months.

Undergrad doesn't define us. I want to scream it from the rooftops.

This is really inspiring :D You just gave me motivation to pursue my goals even harder. It is not that my GPA is that low (idk how to convert into gpa, but in cgpa it was about 3.5), but as an Architecture undergrad student (which for application for Masters they require portfolios) I am very unsatisfied with the content and projects I have to offer. I consider it partly my fault for complying with my professors' old fashioned methods and not striving for more diversity and become more daring....Now I am kinda mentally and emotionally suffering those consequences where I get the feeling that, no matter the scores I give, for architecture I am not good enough, I can't offer the required creativity and uniqueness. That is why I've decided to take unpaid internship for some months, and research more, and work on myself, in order to get the feeling that my portfolio is worth it, and I am worth it.
Numbers and scores don't define how good you are, I suppose for architecture/and urban planning/design the portfolio plays a major part in defining your abilities.

Yes I also would like to know how exactly they evaluate the applications ! They say they award "points" on the individual parts of an application... but what makes some people get a higher score than others ... i doubt it's only the grades

I think the impression your applications gives off plays a role too, and maybe the letter of motivation. :| I consider that as insufficient and too judgemental if the letter of motivation plays the biggest role. But maybe thats just me. :|

Oh :( I am sorry, did your status not change before you received it?

It was preselection made then changed to rejection...I think they send rejections before the interview and keep and handful of people for the interviews afterwards :p.... I am curious as to how they decide who is better and who not. They keep saying to not get discouraged, but there is no worse discouragement than this. Maybe rejections from uni will feel worse, who knows.
Anw I got my toefl results today and I scored 111...lol at least a good news.

  9. Just got the rejection letter, was nice hoping for it, I just wish they didn't keep me dragged like this for 5 months now. hahah They said they had about 315 applicants and 35 can be accepted. (For those who are curious it was the Masters Funding for Architecture 2018/19 Program) Anyway, I wish they could give a more specific reason as to why I got rejected, but well...anw :(

Good luck to everyone else, hopefully you recieve more encouraging results ^^

  10. Yearly Mainstream Music trends. Once it was dubstep, and then some electro shiz from daft punk which everyone copied, the next year it was some repeated electro dj mixture with meeep meep uuuh aaah uuuh aaah , and this year was latino year, every song sounded the same. :|

I asked, they said after the committee meeting and that took place in February, so I think if we are unlucky they announce decision in March :(

by the way, does anyone of you already learn german? I have seen that’s also a selection criteria.

In the program which I applied for, which is Masters funding for Architects,it is mandatory to know german, and higher german language level means more chances to be chosen.

I've checked many university Zulassungsverfahren, and they ALL require C1 and C2, DSH-2 for german in order to be able to attend the lectures in architecture.

I am not sure if for the other programs, the language plays any significant role.

  12. Would be worse when you win the scholarship and then don't get admitted in any university. :| I am wondering whether I'll get admitted to any uni since the german language requirements are so devastating for my subject of study. I can't find anyone to consult about this either T^T

Not when the program is taught in English

Lol,everyone's so lucky, and here I have to learn C2 in ger. :P

@loopyunicorn21 the interview sounds so tough!!! So you applied for a research program?! wow! I think it sounds like you managed well since you won some interviewers' sympathy. Good luck :)

Good luck to you too! I didn't finish applying yet, but i'm definitely not doing anything in german. I'm only a B1 as of now.

Oh, but if we do not get admitted until 1st Oct, don't we lose the scholarship?! and C1 is mandatory in german universities.

  15. 10 minutes ago, ArielPV said:

I'm applying from Brazil and there is no interview for us... I hope it doesn't take much longer because they said three weeks maximum after the committee meeting

Good luck! Are you admitted or did you apply in any german uni yet?! I am a bit confused with their language proficiency requirements. first I thought for architecture they require Goethe-Institut C1, but now I just discovered they require another test called DSH-2 (Deutsche Sprachpruefung fuer den Hochschulzugang), is mandatory... :( I am getting anxious whether that second test makes us lose the opportunity (if won).

I'm also applying for that scholarship.  Has your status changed? I'm currently Selection made but have a couple of friends who got rejections already =(

Still at "pre-selection made", did you have an interview yet?!....and where did you apply from? I applied from Balkans.

Yes it is pretty late :( for me I don't even hab really an alternative if daad rejects me

neither do I, that is the only option I've left, because I got rejected by everything else ^^

End of August was my deadline :) yes I think they go by location and if I am not  wrong in recent years USA applicants got to know it quite late.. to me they said the meeting is in February and after that they let me know

In other words, if my deadline was the end of Sep, I might know the results sometime in March. That is sooo late. I guess I should concentrate on the unis I want to apply to instead. :/

I've applied Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines in Computer Science and my status is "Selection Made" (for more than a month now as I've mentioned before). My interview was on 5th of december. Probably don't know what is the procedure of the selection, so I am patiently waiting for result.

Oh, then it means that you are in the end stage of the selections! Because as I understood up till now it goes Preselection made>> Interview>> Selection made>> Funding or Rejection.

Ohh I am sorry, don't get influenced too much by what I said, I have actually no clue neither :) plus I applied for phd funding, so there might be a difference too.

Don't apologise, it's ok :) when did you apply for phd funding?!

The end of application for the program I applied was 31st Sep, and I am situated in center of Balkans. I don't know whether they go with the selection from location to location or by some other criteria.

My girlfriend received "application rejected" letter yesterday :( for Architecture Masters Program 2018/19

And I am still waiting for decision regarding my application (selection made status for more than a month for now)

Oh I am sorry for your girlfriend, did you apply for the same scholarship too?!....seems like they are right into the middle of the selection spree at the moment. I hope they give the results before February ends.

Is your status "selection made" or "preselection made"?! Because mine is the latter.

Edit: I do not quite understand the procedure behind these two statuses...what is the difference and why do so applicants have one statues while others have the other status?!

  22. Aline1995 My heart stopped for a sec there. I keep my expectations low, but the outcome has been lower than that lately.

On a side note, the funding for the Masters scholarship I've applied for starts on 1st Oct, but the application deadline for the german unis start on 15th April, so I thought Daad would make the selection before that.
