  1. Thanks, you too! I really enjoyed the open house day and people seem happy there.
  2. Hi guys, original poster here. It has been one crazy ride, and I have finally decided to join Boston U this fall (hopefully the COVID-19 thing won't push back the date...). Everyone here is so excellent and I hope that you will all get into your desired program. Who knows, maybe one day we will be colleagues. To future applicants: Good luck, don't be too stressed, and hopefully my profile and other profiles here can be useful references to obsess over. Wash your hand,
  3. I didn’t get that. Does anyone know whether they have finished sending invites? ? Same question for UW.
  4. Does BU BME not have a visit weekend? That's a shame. I was hoping to check out their labs.
  5. Yeah outside it says submitted. But I am talking about the application status when you click into the "View checklist" tab. What does yours show? Mine says incomplete but the checklist doesn't show anything missing.
  6. Btw does anyone’s Stanford application portal still says incomplete? Pretty sure I got everything in.
  7. Hahaha ikr it was 9 pm in the US too. I was very surprised.
  8. Just got an offer from Johns Hopkins! Seems like they just sent a large batch out, so I take back my words.
  9. Congrats! I will take that as a good sign that decisions are coming soon. I can't understand why they don't send a big batch on one day though. To create suspense for those who haven't heard anything? No thanks lol.
  10. Just saw an acceptance for Johns Hopkins. Anyone else heard back from them?
  11. If the trend is the same this year, interview emails will be spread out over January. Still not holding my breath though.
  12. Hey, glad to see another person interested in protein engineering. We seem rare lol. Hopefully we will run into each other during visits.
  13. At the interview round you should have a high chance of getting in. Congrats and good luck!
  14. I know one guy from my class who got in. From what I know he did research since sophomore year, got 1 paper and a couple of scholarships.
  15. Most apps should be due by now. Happy holiday, happy new year and good luck everyone! ?
  16. Hi you might recognize me from the bioe thread. I’m also applying to some cheme programs so I’ll accompany you lol. Hopefully things will get more festive after people are finished with apps.
  17. Hard to tell without knowing your LORs, SOP and how good your research fit to each program is. You’re applying to a lot of top BME programs, which are a toss-up for anyone, even for top students. I think if you’re a great fit for these programs then it’s a good enough reason to apply. Anyways it’s near the deadlines already so let’s not worry and finish this off with a bang!
  18. I'm also applying to Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering. I'll swap with you.
  19. I also find emailing professors not helpful so far lol. They basically just tell me to apply and see what happens.
  20. You have very good stats, especially with that Barry Goldwater Scholarship. I think as long as you demonstrate research focus in the SOP you should be fine. How did you make so many connections to faculties in other schools?
  21. I'll go first. Undergrad Institution (approx. rank/reputation in STEM): R1 State School Major(s): Chemical Engineering Minor(s): None GPA in Major: 3.91/4.00 Overall GPA: 3.90/4.00 Demographics/Background: International student GRE Scores: Q: 164 (84%) V: 166 (97%) W: 4.0 (57%) LOR: 1 from my current PI and 2 from my PIs for summer research Research Experience: ~1.5 years in my current lab + 2 months in a European university Publications/Abstracts/Presentations: one 1st author paper, one presentation coming up Awards/Honors/Recognitions: International Scholarship, Junior Academic Excellence Award Fellowships/Funding: None. I'm not even eligible to apply Pertinent Activities or Jobs: College math tutor, but this probably does not matter Other Miscellaneous Accomplishments: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anything else in your application that might matter (faculty connections, etc.): ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ besides maybe having a clear narrative of how my research interests came to be (having major problems writing my SOP though) Research Interests: I'm mainly interested in protein engineering, protein-protein interactions, chemical biology Institutions/Programs: A mix of BioE and ChemE. All are chosen based on whether there are faculties doing projects I'm interested in. Some are very ambitious but I'd like to give a shot. BioE: UCB-UCSF, Stanford, UW, MIT, BU ChemE: UT Austin, JHU, UW-Madison, CU Boulder Comments: Would love to hear about where other people are applying to
  22. Hi guys. I'm feeling a bit lonely in my application endeavor (barely anyone around me is applying), so I'm creating this annual thread so we can help each other out (and suffer together). Here's the template: Undergrad Institution (approx. rank/reputation in STEM): Major(s): Minor(s): GPA in Major: x.xx/4.00 Overall GPA: x.xx/4.00 Demographics/Background: GRE Scores: Q: xxx (xx%) V: xxx (xx%) W: x.x (xx%) LOR: Research Experience: Publications/Abstracts/Presentations: Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Fellowships/Funding: Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Other Miscellaneous Accomplishments: Anything else in your application that might matter (faculty connections, etc.): Research Interests: Institutions/Programs: Comments:
