  1. unless your work is about large cities, i dont know how being in new haven would stunt your practice. all of the faculty at yale are new york based artists, and from what i understand most of your class mates (if you go to yale ill be one of them!) move to new york after graduating. Personally I plan on taking a monthly train ride into the city to see whats going on. I would call peter halley and talk to him about your concerns, he seems really nice. But in the end i would follow your gut instinct, im sure your going to have a great two years no matter where you go, good luck!
  2. I also got into Yale (painting) and am for sure going there. Yale doesn't offer students money to buy them like other schools do, their scholarships are need based only. However most students get a scholarship from what I understand. Also tuition is 30K, where most of the big MFA programs are 40K+. Im still waiting for my financial aid package to come, but I know they're sending them out next week. I would also seriously consider where you want to stay after grad school; new york or chicago. good luck!
  3. I would totally choose penn design over cca. The faculty seems really nice and there are some really great opportunities there to teach. Also, im right under NYC and the amount of things going on there is amazing. Philly also has a growing art scene and the city is really nice. thats my 2 cents, good luck!
  4. I just got an e-mail from yale telling me to check my online application. I got accepted for painting/printmaking!!!!!!!! im going there!
  5. i got into yale for painting! im going there!!!
  6. thanks! my interview was with Rochelle and Daniel Boshkov (sp?). It was all questions about my work at first, but then Rochelle looked at me and said- "I have a rule that when I interview students I never go into critique, but I have to break that today, I think your working from good models and whether you come here or not you've got the chops." then she talked about my use of the figure in two of paintings and she told me she really likes how I paint feet. We did have a conversation about my age though (im 21) which I new was going to come up, so i prepared answers. Then the student interview was really relaxed, the girls interviewing me barely asked me any questions, they just had me talk about every piece in my portfolio. I cannot deal with this waiting though, we could find out as early as tommorow and the anticipation is killing me, I woke up with 3 new pimples today...
  7. I also cant stop thinking about Yale! I interviewed last tuesday (3/23), I think it went well, they gave me really positive feedback but my weak point is that im still in school. If I dont get in im going to UPenn for sure.
  8. this is my experience so far (applying straight out of undergrad) Accepted- Rutgers UPenn (got a call from the chair offering me a large amount of money) Interviewed at Yale this past tuesday, I think it went well, but who knows. Havent heard anything from Columbia so im assuming its a no
