  1. Do you happen to know if NSERC CGS/PGS is paid out monthly or yearly?
  2. Can CGS/PGS be used in a master program (MSc)? If my supervisor wants me to get a MSc first and then PHD (can write a letter to NSERC), can they allow using the first 2 years fund of CGS/PGS on the master program?
  3. Can CGS/PGS be used in a master program (MSc)? If my supervisor wants me to get a MSc first and then PHD (can write a letter to NSERC), can they allow using the first 2 years fund of CGS/PGS on the master program?
  4. Does anyone know if NSERC PGS-D can be used in a master program? After master program, it will follow a PHD.
  5. Thanks a lot for the information. Is it possible tot defer PGS-D for one year (because the chance of getting a visa is very small now due to the COVID 19). If I defer the PGS-D for one year, can I still be considered to upgrade to CGS after one year (because if there is still a visa issue one year later, I will just go to a Canada school)?
  6. I wonder if I applied for PGS-D, can I upgrade to CGS-D if one awardee decided not go to a non-Canada school and get downgraded to PGS-D?
  7. I have emailed NSERC and have not heard back from them. I think the only possible way to upgrade is that a CGS-D awardee get downgraded because he is not going to Canadian school. Have you applied for CGS-D or PGS-D before?
  8. I am reading the NSERC CGS-D portion in https://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/PG-CS/index_eng.asp ###Quote #### The Canada Graduate Scholarships—Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). ############ So it means that CGS-D is awarded by one of three agencies (CIHR NSERC SSHRC) depending on whether your filed of study is "head science", "Engineering" or "Humanities", right?
  9. I only applied to NSERC? My field of study is "engineering". Do I need to apply to CIHR?
  10. Are you very positive that PGS can not be upgraded to CGS? Thank you very much for your answer.
  11. I think the PGS and CGS is one application, right? I find the following in the NSERC pgs website. https://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/students-etudiants/pg-cs/bellandpostgrad-belletsuperieures_eng.asp ####Quote##### Applications to the PGS D program will automatically be considered for the Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral (CGS D) award, which is offered to the top-ranked applicants; the next tier of meritorious applicants will be offered a PGS D award.
  12. Thank you very much for the reply. Yes, I just know that I get the PGS offer. I have emailed NSERC today about upgrading from PGS to CGS. So they will only do it when a CGS awardee choose to go to a non-Canadian school and get downgraded to PGS?
  13. I wonder does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade from PGS to CGS? I applied for PGS, but will be going to Canadian school. Is there any chance to upgrade? Thanks a lot.
  14. I am also trying to find out if it is possible. I have emailed the NSERC office and have not heard back yet. Do you hear from the NSERC office?
  15. I wonder if it is possible to switch from "CGS to PGS" or from "PGS to CGS"? And is it possible to defer CGS/PGS for one year?
