Bursaries and scholarships are not synonymes? In french (I'm francophone) we call them "bourses" so I just translated to "bursaries".

Just got bumped up to a big SSHRC from a small one today. Yay!!!!! So I think the hold must be over with now. Good luck to all of you!

Just to give you my update, in june I was told I was next on the list to get bumped up to a big SSHRC and still no news for me. Still waiting...

Sorry for the confusion. Right away I was granted s small SSHRC and at that time I was fourth on the list to get bumped up to a big. Now I am the next one on the list. So there has been movement to get bumped up to a big one in my subgroup...

I have been granted a small SSHRC for three years (with a score of 21.1). At the beginning, I was fourth on the waiting list to get bumped to a big SSHRC. Now, I am the next one (an agent told me by email). Keeping my fingers crossed...

I have been trying to find this out for myself (I have been awarded a small SSHRC for three years with a score of 21.1/30) for the past two weeks, unfortunatly, the SSHRC officer I landed on told me she couldn't give me this info. However, she did tell me that there are 3 Vaniers in my sub-group (who were also awarded a big SSHRC). Good luck to you !

Ok! Here is my info: 1. Funded; 21.10/30...small SSHRC for 3 years 2. I'm studying on the East Coast of Canada. 3. Letter received: 10th of may; Letter postmarked: 5th of may; Letter dated: 3rd of may 4. Subject area and/or committee : Committee 3 (I'm studying social psychology) 5. Applied through my university 6. Year in PhD studies when you would take up the award : I will be starting my second year. 7. Taylor, Ross, or Queen's Fellowship? No. 8. Anything else you want to include that might be helpful: First time applying, Bachelor GPA 4.26/4.3, Master GPA 4.26/4.3, 1 submitted publication at an important Journal (third author), 2 conferences (first author, third author) -Really hoping to get bumped up to the big SSHRC...what are the chances with a score like this?

So am I understanding correctly: Some people who have been granted a Vanier Scholarship are still being awarded a regular doctoral scholarship (big or small), therefore, when they refuse their doctoral scholarship for Vanier some people with a small SSHRC will be bumped to a big SSHRC and some people on the waiting list will be bumped to a small SSHRC?

Contacted my grad studies dep this morning by email, they tell me they have not yet received the results but that they should received them this week. I can't wait anymore .

Still waiting on the east coast for my Vanier SSHRC letter...this is absurd...did ANYONE get there SSHRC letter?

I'm still waiting for my letter from SSHRC Vanier. I'm on the east coast. The waiting is killing me...
