Tweet from a prof in UCSF BMS (posted 8:40pm est yesterday): Just left admissions committee meeting. We had about 650 apps for 80 spots in BMS. To anyone *not* interviewed please know this: it’s possible to have amazing potential as a scientist but not be in these 80. So many incredible applicants it was overwhelming! Looks like results are coming soon!
-
Hmm I see. Since the interviews aren’t until March I think they will probably send another round.
-
I haven’t seen anything for MIT. Do you know someone who got an invite?
-
Did anyone hear from UCSF biomedical science? Looks like neuro sent out their results today but haven't seen anything for BMS.
-
Anyone heard back from UCSF biomedical science? Today's the last day before their winter break so it seems likely they'd want to send invites today.
-
Their admissions rep told me they would be sending another round today, but it's possible things got delayed.
-
Yes mine included both options. I chose the January date.
-
I’m not sure about this round, but I know that the total number is around 50-60 based on the info I’ve received.
-
Lots of overlap for our schools! U Penn is sending out another round of invites this Friday.
-
Wow that's pretty late compared to my other schools! Thanks for the info.
-
Does anyone known when MIT's interviews are normally held for brain and cognitive science? That's one of my only schools where I haven't been able to find much info.
-
Oh my bad, I was definitely referring to OSU!
-
Just a heads-up for anyone who applied to U Penn for neuro, they sent out their first round of interview invites last Friday and I just heard from their admissions coordinate that another round will be sent this Friday as well.
-
That unfortunately I don't know, as I'm not at OSU currently (postbac at NIH). I'd recommend just emailing them to ask. Folks in the neuro department are generally very friendly.
-
Lots of overlap for us too! I'm applying to 5 of your programs (6 if you count UCSF, but I'm applying to biomedical sciences there instead of neuro). Thanks for the Harvard info, this is good to know. Guess I'll be glued to my email on the 17th. Edit: By the way, do you happen to know when Harvard's interview dates will be? I've got an offer to interview Jan 10-12 at another school but I'm worried it might overlap.
-
I did my undergrad in neuro at OSU, let me know if you have any questions about the program!
-
I also just got a UNC invite. I think this first round was just for people who applied before the priority deadline (Nov 27).
-
I'm in the same boat. I just emailed the school to ask if they can extend the RSVP deadline while I wait to hear from other schools. If they say no, then I will probably just accept the interview and then cancel later if I end up having a conflict. I'm sure the school doesn't love losing money on canceled flights, but there's really nothing else we can do. Edit: Just got an email back. They said I can extend my RSVP deadline until Dec 14 (previously was Dec 10).

Just got my first interview invitation from U Penn (neuro)!
-
Lots of overlap between us! Hopefully we'll meet at interviews ? My list: Stanford (neuro), UNC (BBSP), UCSD (BMS), UCSD (neuro), MIT (brain and cognitive), Harvard (neuro), UCSF (BMS), Scripps, NIH/Johns Hopkins joint program, U Penn (neuro), Boston U (neuro)
