Everything depends on the region. There is another person from Turkey who also have not gotten any reply from them.
As for myself, I have not gotten any information from DAAD since I applied for the program. When I asked DAAD-Bonn about my status, they messaged back asking to wait more, as the meeting had not taken place yet. I personally think that people from Turkey are in the same situation.

And you are applying for a PhD program, right?
Can you please provide the link to the info stating that the decision should not be expected before May 1, 2019? Our local DAAD web-site does not have this info. And when I asked DAAD-Bonn about when to expect the results, they told me to wait them not earlier than mad-April.
As for myself, there was no interview this year for PhD applicants. And I have not received any acknowledgment letter from DAAD-Bonn either (Have you received such a letter?). My status is the same as yours, i.e. "Application submitted".

No changes in the funding dates, no info on the interview, still "Application submitted" status on the portal..... It seams that they forgot about the applicants from my country

So many of us were right to say that the process depends on the region.
Just a quick update from my side: I got a reply from DAAD-Bonn stating that for my country the results will be announced not earlier than in the middle of April. And I haven't heard anything from them after submitting my PhD application in the middle of November 2018. Also, I do not even know whether there will be an interview or not.

As far as I understood, your country was listed among the eligible ones, right? If so, then why to listen to those who are saying such things? Just try to be positive, though waiting is very stressful.

The Good news is that the selection committee is currently meeting and the result of the selection will be out by the end of the month or at most Early March. If you have not done interview by now, it means your country is not part of the countries that suppose to conduct interview and in such case your application will be considered in the selection committee. By now, you all would have received a letter officially confirming that DAAD received your application and further directives. The selection process is already on the call for the scholarship. For now, just keep your fingers crossed and look up for some lucks. I wish you all the very best of the process.

Would you, please say where you got this information from? I mean, you sound very certain about the process. However, when I asked our DAAD Rep. in January, she informed me that for our country the interviews for MA programs are scheduled for March, and that probably the PhD applicants will be also interviewed in March.
Also, my status on the portal remains "Application submitted", but you are firmly saying "By now, you all would have received a letter officially confirming that DAAD received your application and further directives". Could you, please confirm for which country is that?

Hi all,
Can anyone advise a good modern book on methodology which could be used while doing a PhD?
The thing is that I applied for a PhD scholarship, and I found a Professor who provided me with a support letter. However, I know that he found the methouds I proposed not good enough for the PhD work. Thus, I would like to read more and be more prepared before starting my admission to the university.
The topic I would like to explore covers historical memory, cultural heritage, and urban planning.

The colleagues are telling the right things above. But let me tell you that our DAAD office informed me that this year they are having late interviews for the CA region. Applicants for master degrees will have their interviews in March (and we should keep in mind that there will be the same panel for the MA and PhD applicants, if there is any interview for PhD applicants). So, I am thinking that if now interviews are mostly conducted somewhere in Malaysia or Thailand whose applicants will be notified in Feb, we will be notified later, as our interviews will be conducted in March.
By the way, I still have "Application submitted" on the portal, and nothing has changed there since the deadline.
We should stay calm and wait...

Got it. This might be a reason why they are sending your paper docs to Bonn. In our case, professors get paper applications when they arrive for conducting interviews.

For me it's the first year when I submit my application for a DAAD Research Grant for PhD. I applied from my home country.
I think that you shouldn't worry about the interview, as you already started your research in Germany. The DAAD office in my country informed me that sometimes they conduct interviews for applicants and sometimes they don't. It might depend on many factors, such as a number of applicants, etc.
What Application status do you have on the portal? Mine is still "Application submitted", and it worries me a lot...

I think that if they decide to conduct an interview for us, it will be in January. In the previous years it was the thing that German professors conducted face-to-face interviews for all MA applicants in January. I think that this year it will be the same, and this will apply for a PhD applicants too (if they invite us for an interview).
Why is your DAAD office closed? Is it because of the holidays, or it is not working there?

I spoke with the DAAD rep too, and she told me that it is not clear now whether we will be interview or not this year. Also, she informed me that the results will be announced in May...
