  1. To piggy back onto what Olivolia mentioned, you can also use the title "Psychotherapist" after your MSW credential, you just can't put "Registered" since it is a protected title. So, for example, you can list yourself as: "Jane Doe, MSW, RSW, Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist" More information about that is indicated on the OCSWSSW's website as well: https://www.ocswssw.org/professional-practice/regulation-of-psychotherapy/. While you do have to take the exam to use the recognized title of Registered Psychotherapist, it certainly is nice to be able to use the term to some capacity even without it. Also, MSW's allow for more broad job opportunities. You can pursue many different avenues because the skills are transferable. If I decide I don't like working in the hospital, I can look for work in the school system, or maybe do some policy work. I personally, felt that if I were to do an MA in Counselling or Psychotherapy I would be pigeon holing myself, because although I want to pursue the counselling and clinical work at the end of the day I don't know what I am going to end up enjoying. I say now I would never do policy but that could change! Oh, and also the fees for registration with the OCSWSSW is way cheaper than the CRPO fees!
  2. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to clarify that this is not always the case. I encourage those who do not have much experience to still apply if you are considering MSW at UWindsor. I definitely did not have 10-15 heard of experience and I got accepted into the MSW for Working Professionals Program at UWindsor Peel Campus. I made a group already with a few members if anyone is interested to join, please dm me! Best of luck to everyone! Don't lose hope.
  3. Hi Everyone, I recently got accepted into UWindsor's MSW program for Working Professionals - Peel Regular Track. I will be creating a group chat on WhatsApp with like-minded individuals and fellow peers. If you are in this program please dm me to connect! Good luck to everyone.
  4. Hey! Thank you I applied last week of September to first week of October. So I heard back pretty quick! Usually they say it takes 4-6 weeks but in my case just under 4 weeks.
  5. Congrats! I just got my acceptance to UWindsors Working Professional program for next fall but regular track at the Peel campus. any future classmates here?
  6. Hey, I am also applying for this program. Just out of curiosity are you speaking about your cgpa or your last two years?
  7. Hey may I ask why that humber program as opposed to a SSW program (social service worker program)? I am considering going back to college after my BA so looking into relevant programs to boost experience. I'm looking at the Sheridan program, 2 year FT specifically.
  8. Great advice, thank you! I dmed you
  9. Hi! First off- congratulations on getting accepted!! This is the program I really want to get in for, for 2021. May I ask what your background and experiences were going into the program? & what advice or insight you might have for prospectives like me
  10. Hey, congrats first of all. May I ask what your background or experience was going into that program? I am interested in that program as well. Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi Everyone, Long time lurker. I didn't apply this year, I applied last year and did not get in but wanted to try again for Fall 2021. I am feeling quite discouraged though, so would love some guidance from anyone that was in my similar position. I have my undergrad in Psych, low gpa cumulatively :( but 79% gpa in the last two years. Low research methods mark. & have been working in various Mental Health Clinics doing clinic intake, admin and light psychometry for the last 4 years. After I got my first rejection, I decided to apply to volunteer with Kids Help Phone crisis text line. So far ive been really enjoying it these last 7 months and by the time of application, will have accumulated 400 hours. I also got my ASIST certification. I'm hoping to apply to UWindsor's MSW for Working professionals program, Laurier's part time online and considering doing a post bsw program to make up for the lack of direct experience and marks.. My issue is my restrictions in not having a BSW, and geographical location (I can't go anywhere outside of GTA really). I applied to UofT and was considering re applying, but my marks are too low and I just think it would be a waste of money tbh. I am also considering taking an online research methods course to boost that mark up next year so that I can reapply to UofT, its just paying the 1k hurts a lil especially during this time lol. Would appreciate any guidance, if any. Thanks in advance<3.
  12. Thank you for responding! Would you happen to know what average you were in competition in for this cohort? & Do you mind explaining how taking online courses through Athabasca worked? Did you retake courses that were relevant to take such as research methods, or just social science courses? I am considering enrolling to bump my grades up in order to keep up with the competition.
  13. Congrats!! May I ask if the hospital work experience was directly related to Social Work? I myself have a 4 years Honours BaSc from Guelph, no thesis and 4500 hours of work and volunteer in the vulnerable sector, (intake amongst other responsibilities in psychology practices). My gpa is not the best it could be but it is decent. I'm quite concerned with my grades and as well as the limited "Direct" experience I applied for the part time online 2 year msw program for Sept 2019 cohort.
  14. Has anyone or anyone know of anybody who has gotten accepted into a MSW Program (more specifically, UofT) with less than a B+ in research methods?
  15. Hi There, According to the instructions for UofT, it advises 500 words per question, each question on a seperate page from another with your full name on the header for each page. I am wondering if it will make a positive or negative difference if adding a title page? I am submitting it tonight for Sept 2019 and I worry now if i should add one or not :$
