  1. There are quite a few supermarket at a distance of 15minutes walk and at a convenient route by bus. These include CVS, Albertsons, publix and a few other stores and restaurants. I am not a very good fan of Rogers Hall, having lived there, but its cheaper than Ragan and it doesnot (except for once) close during the holiday breaks.
  2. I got one more question. i see that the grace period is provided only for purchases. But no grace period is provided for cash advance? Now what exactly is a cash advance? For most of the times I would probably be using my credit card to pay for shopping and online transactions, housing and utilities bill. Do these transactions count as purchases or any other transaction on which no grace period is provided?
  3. hi, i am an incoming international student in US. I have just applied for student credit card at bankofamerica and have been approved of a Platinum Plus student Visa card with a credit of $1000. I have never used a credit card. I am already doing fine with my visa debit cards which have worked well at almost all places so far and only got a credit card because I hear people speaking of the need to establish a good credit history. As a matter of act, I was denied a postpaid mobile and asked to keep a deposit because I had no credit history at that time. So i would like to ask how a credit card actually works. What is a credit balance? Is it the amount due that I have to pay for the purchases I have made with a credit card? What is a grace period? Is it the time that if I pay my balance by then I won't be charged a penny by the credit card provider? When does APR come into equation, after the grace period only? Who is the credit card provider for me? Is it the bank or is it some other body? What is a late fee and when is it application? When do I have to make a payment? Do I get a notification via mail or I can make payment at any time without any notification? How do I make a payment? Do i deposit my money into the bank that gave me the credit card? Can I just pay with my debit card from my online banking? What is a balance transfer? I may be asking trivial questions. But I couldn't get a clear view even after going through all the resources of this forum. Hope somebody can help me. with regards.
  4. I have been running in order to get university housing at Ragan's Hall. Unfortunately the university guy is saying that I cannot be assigned to Ragan's Hall. However they are willing to make space in the Roger's Hall. Has anybody got experience in living at Roger's Hall? Should I get into Roger's hall, which is assigned month to month basis, or should I ditch the plan for oncampus housing and get onto off-campus apartment hunting seriously? Any word will be warmly received. Thanks

  6. Hi, can anybody give me a clue about 2525 Hartsfield Rd. I am looking for a potential condo at this place. How does this area compare in terms of locality, demography, shopping and transportation. Also what is the preferable means of transport for a college goer like me ( I don't have a car right now). Thanks
  7. Well generally there is a thread for the place anybody that is visiting on the City Guide. I guess you would probably be the newest entry on that thread. If it helps then there are threads on other universities at this page. You may take a look into Worchester MA in the City Thread, if it helps to you to getting know the place. Good luck
  8. Hi rising_star, Yes I have gone through the previous posts of this thread. What I wanted to ask was whether staying off campus is better suited than staying on campus. Alumni village has pretty much been blacklisted. Has anybody got experience living in Ragan's hall or Rogers Hall? How does that compare with living of campus, specially in terms of cost, quality of life, headaches of arranging the places, sharing rooms with an unknown person and traveling matters.
  9. Hi to all, Thanks to the reply to my previous question. I now switch to the apartment hunting. I can see that FSU has on-campus housing facilities particularly in Rogers hall, Ragans hall and Alumni Village. Now my options are whether to seek living in these on-campus facilities or make off-campus arrangements. Please suggest which one would suit me? Do consider my status as an international student, which means I'll have to do everything from scratch. Thanks all.
  10. Hi to all. I am an international student and I have received a good admission offer from FSu with a moderate stipend(14500/year) and tuition waver + TA. I am now waiting for my I-20 and then dig into the visa process. Not surprisingly I have a lot of curiosity and questions about my future destination. I will try to put one by one and hope you guys can come up with help to me. Any bit of help will be sincerely appreciated by me. Let me start with the budget. Since I have TA I don't know if I expect to be working/earning outside. So I am a bit touchy if the given stipend (1200/month) shall prove to be enough for me to manage my expenses or not. More later on. Thanks to all guys
