  1. Hey everyone! How did you like the schools you interviewed at and did any of your preferences vastly change after?
  2. I would say something along the lines of "although I'm disappointed, I hope to learn from the experience and improve my chances in the future. If you have any advice on why I was rejected and how to improve, I would be grateful to hear it"
  3. How do you determine top 20 if not considering a specific focus? What would you guys consider the top 20?
  4. I preferenced neural science through gsas- but ita a joint application
  5. Not sure if this was a wave or not, but got invited to interview at NYU today!
  6. I'm somewhat in the same boat as you - 3/6 schools done sending invites, good amount of research experience. This is what has kept me sane (ish). * if there is a chance that I have an interview, I better have my paper submitted by then so that I can show it * basically, set a goal that you need to focus on, so that you can't wallow. What you do now with your time will probably have an effect on your apps still. easier said than done (lol I'm on gradcafe right now) but it's all about steps forward!
  7. Also, does anyone know if you can be waitlisted without an interview? Curious as to how that works
  8. Is there confirmation that brown is done from the committee ?
  9. The reason I thought that neuro and physiology was done first was because the only result with "neural science" was a rejection
  10. Will PM you so that this thread isn't spammed
  11. Currently, I simulate populations of neurons using a reasonably realistic model and vary certain aspects of the model to alter population firing patterns. Then we quantify how the change in firing pattern of the upstream population affects the firing patterns of the downstream population. What behavioral studies do you do?
  12. Yes, I have a math background, and slowly transitioned from pure math to theoretical/computational neuroscience over the years. My interests are computational because I've been more exposed to that side of neuroscience and my background fits better, but I find experimental studies fascinating as well! Are you focusing on computation as well?
  13. That sounds super cool! I applied to nyu, brown, Harvard, princeton, mit and Columbia. Haven't heard from any ?? how about you
  14. Not sure, but I think most results have been for neuroscience and physiology. Not neural science. Hoping for both our sakes that it's not over
  15. For a change of topic while we wait... What area of research and techniques are you guys interested in? I primarily am interested in simulations of Systems of neurons and detecting patterns that arise
  16. Does anyone have info on whether nyu is done sending invites?
