Do all schools have some sort of recruitment or visit day?
-
Thanks! And congrats to you too, chowder! I hope everyone gets some good news soon.
Anxiety.. I just have to keep active. I went driving the other day, went somewhere new. That was a good distraction.

Got the Davis email. I'm guessing no news is bad news from Berkeley though if others have heard for interviews?
-
Indeed. I gave in and looked at last years thread, I believe it was Davis that people heard from on the second!
Happy February! Does this seem like the calm before the storm?

You are right, might as well skip past all the waiting! Thanks, you tooLol, fast forward to August/September! Best of luck, caus

Losemygrip's post has been my strategy basically. I want to go with funding, at least where tuition is covered, so I applied to a lot of schools. I found when researching that the programs I like are quite varied anyways, from big names to lesser knowns- but all places I would be happy with.
I would be fine with a small loan to help expenses, especially since I'd be moving.
-
I hope I get in this round, I feel like I applied to a good range of schools so hopefully my work fits somewhere! Knowing I will have to move to another state makes me even more anxious, but still excited.
Almost February already, can't believe it. Fast forward to April?
-
Almost February! Hard to believe we will be through this soon. Anxiety is tough and my diet is swinging everywhere, ha. I just want to start hearing back, but I know most MFA programs are going to take until later in feb/march to give results. A few of my deadlines aren't even until feb 1st so I definitely have a good wait to go.
-
I've been good! Knocked out my FAFSA. It was a lot easier than I remember from undergrad.
-
I am really ready to start hearing back! Good or bad, ha :)I think all of my schools seem like they'll be Feb and March responses.
How are y'all keeping distracted in the mean time? I updated my site, which gave me the idea to play around with coding more. That's one thing to keep busy.
-
Good ideas! I've been tempted with an iPad for a while, would think about getting that. Expensive chocolate and things like perfume are always nice rewards to me.
Or, if I don't get in anywhere it can turn into a consolation shopping spree since I won't have moving costs to save for..

I need some more if this confidence paintcutter and others are having, I'm getting bouts of impostor syndrome setting in already.
I'd be thrilled with any of my schools though! Hopefully.

Something simple.
Roasted Zucchini boats
Cut zucchini in half lengthwise. Scoop out some of the seeds, enough to leave a hollow for your toppings.
Brush with olive oil mixture- olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and ground mustard.
Top with chopped tomatoes, fresh parsley and diced onion. Try it with a green tomatillo sauce if you like things a little spicy.
Your choice of cheese- I used mozzarella.
Bake! About 20min at 350
Serve with Parmesan garnish
Tip: slice back of zucchini halves just enough to make a flat spot to make them sit flat in your pan.

Now that I have nothing to do but wait, it's proving even more difficult than having applications to work on. I'm going to build some strong patience I hope! That or drive everyone around me crazy too.. Sometimes I'm not worried at all and I think ahead to moving and getting ready, then I switch over to worrying about not getting accepted anywhere.
-
As long as you are comfortable with what you are posting I wouldn't worry. I think it is unlikely anything here would outweigh anything in your application.
I agree kazoo, people are pretty understanding at most places too. I've been able to submit scanned copies of transcripts to fill in until mailed copies arrive. So I'm trying to just relax.
-
It's official! All of my applications are completely submitted now.
@ Studiohound-
I did get into UCSD's portfolio site yesterday, perhaps it will work for you too.
-
Congrats! I guess that was a December deadline? Good sign.
-
you aren't alone! I've been emailing and trying to get the password still. Is it the same login for everyone or something personal they set up?What's up with UC San Diego's Visual Arts Department? I have not been able to access their portal for submitting the portfolio. I submitted my app to UCSD's main grad school and received the access password to the art department's application a few weeks ago. I wrote to BJ inquiring why their site is down but I have yet to hear back. Has anyone heard back from them? They have been quite disorganized throughout this whole process, and I am starting to worry what their actual program will be like!
This is exactly why schools go to an outside resource like slide room. I'll keep in touch if I get any progress.
-
Nice to see the board picking up! Can't wait until everyone starts having some news to report. I'm done, just waiting on UCSD so I'll probably have to call on that after the weekend.
Now that apps are in I've been getting way ahead of myself and thinking about the next step... packing it up and moving.
-
Slide room is cool, except for a certain school where it was $35! Very easy to use and I would have been quite happy if all schools accepted it.
Good luck everyone getting apps in!
-
Would they accept an official/unofficial scan until the mailed copy arrived? It seems odd to me if they wouldn't because the one school I tried to email and check on my transcripts with replied to wait until the 3rd week of Jan (week of their deadline) to inquire about receipt of materials.
Oh USPS, I hope all of mine are in!
What will you treat yourself to?

So far one acceptance and it looks like I have treated myself to a couple pounds of celebratory food xD but it was delicious. I have been thinking, my big reward will be getting the different ear piercings I want.
