  1. Did anyone fill out the Diversity Fellowship or any part of the Fellowship section on the UC school application? I noticed it was the same for UCI and UCLA.

I filled it out, used the same statement for all of the diversity fellowships. I don't expect anything from it most likely but can't hurt to submit it. I think every UC school has the same.
  2. Since I had a school that needed an official transcript uploaded and I had to make a PDF for that anyways, I've just used the official one for everything. I wish more schools would do it that way, saves you from the cost of all those transcript requests.

  3. I might use it to elaborate on the medium and do more of a physical description, my pieces tend to have multiple parts to them. I would go with whatever you feel like could be explained to the viewer further after looking at your images.

  4. I feel like reccs and exhibits hold about the same weight, unless something is strong enough to stand out against what most people have. Maybe exhibits help more if a school likes to see more time spent out of undergrad?

Demain- I did look at csulb, I was a little unsure about their concentrations and how much interdisciplinary work they might allow. Any ideas on that? You can look at my site if you want, but I think it could be a fit

  5. All of those things need to be covered and add something tailored specifically to why VCU.

It seems like mentioning other artists could benefit you if you find some way to show how you see your work fitting in the art world? I'm not sure how you could go about it though. There was one program at least which mentioned for the SOP that you should be able to talk about your work in the scope of contemporary art history.

  6. Didn't see one of these unless I missed it, but share away if you want.

I'll go first, looking for any school suggestions- http://www.jldstudio.com My BFA was at VCU for sculpture. I prefer interdisciplinary programs and a chance for some funding.

My application list, no real order:

    1 USC

    2 UCLA

    3 UC Berkeley

    4 Tyler

    5 Rutgers

    6 SDSU

    7 Uc Davis

    8 UCSD

    9 UCI

    10 UMD

    11 UNC

    12 NYU

  7. Thank you paintcutter! This is really helpful of you. I'm applying to a lot of those same california schools too. I don't know much about UCR, and Calarts I had assumed would mean no financial aid.

I know I've definitely wondered about my work being too object-based for some programs even though it's interdisciplinary work, so I'm glad they touched on that.

  8. yes you def have a good range of schools. I havent even looked into the NYU program too much. I just read you get a spacious studio in NYC and I was turned on - You went to VCU, do you have anything to say about there sculpture program? do you think it's as awesome as everyone says?

It really is. I loved VCU sculpture. And the people. It is worth being in Richmond for a million times over. I've lived in the Richmond area my whole life so it doesn't bother me at all, but I don't know how you would feel about Richmond if you are set for somewhere like NYC.
