Did anyone apply for USC computer science - data science OR applied data science? It seems like their admission process is sooooo slow . I was told that they haven't yet finished the whole review process at this moment. If anyone heard back from USC's program, I would greatly appreciate it if you can share when you applied and when you got the result! Thanks
The information I provided is not from my personal thoughts or guesses. I looked into their official info session presentation offered by the UMN computer science & engineering department. There is no need to guess what qualifications the program prioritizes.
I do have some information about UMN based on their recent Engineering graduate admission presentation. It says that admission results are most likely released b/t April - May, so don't worry about it. Also, a total of 140 spots (not just for data science program) for Computer Science & Data Science MS.
It also states 320 GRE score to be competitive (V:154+, Q:166+). Hope this helps.
I would value NW's program over UChicago's. I personally viewed UChicago's program as targeted for those already in career fields. Also, I did not like how the program is situated under the Graham School, while most other data science programs are under Engineering departments or individual data science institute.
I haven't heard back from NYU, Columbia, USC data science programs. Does anyone have information about this? I did hear that Columbia is still in the review process, but not sure about the other two schools.
Remember that you might want to join a program that has been established a while ago. Newer programs tend to have an unstructured or unbalanced curriculum.
Looking into this data from NCSU (https://analytics.ncsu.edu/?page_id=4184)
Northwestern 2012
NYU 2013
Columbia 2014
UPenn 2017
Georgia Tech 2014
Duke 2018
NW = NYU = Columbia > UPenn is what I'm thinking. I wouldn't personally consider Duke. Also, I did not apply for Georgia Tech as their curriculum covered descent amount of business aspects of analytics, which is not what I was looking for.
I also did not hear back from NYU. Not even as waitlisted. However, don't assume to be rejected. Last year results page for NYU MSDS shows that acceptance offers were released in a couple of rounds.
UMichigan data science program started to release results today. I was notified that the cohort size would be around 50 and there were around 700 applicants
Hi all,
I also applied for a couple of Master's data science programs including,
Pending:
UChicago (Analytics)
USC (Data Science)
Northwestern (Analytics)
NYU (Data Science)
UMichigan (Data Science)
Columbia (Data Science)
UMinnesota (Data Science)
Rejected:
Stanford (ICME - Data Science)
UWashington (Data Science)
