I think at this point, it's fair to say the dates mean nothing.
UNLESS that's exactly what they want us to think, in which case the dates mean everything.
But in reality, they probably mean nothing.
A few people (myself included) emailed SysPlus about the decisions. The response said that decisions will be finalized by April 13 (Monday) at the latest, and notifications will be received by April 15 (Wednesday) at the latest. The thinking is that they will actually be done by the end of the week, because that's a convenient time to end any task I suppose.
Yes and it was super confusing at first, and very annoying to deal with. I didn't even realize how aligned my research was with some of the ONR interests, until I reviewed their website and the BAA like 3 times.
ONR, Mech. Eng. checking in - 12/24 still, as is my lab mate who is either ONR or ARO. So I buy specific dates for each discipline/lab.

Let's start the April 8 freakout early (0800 EST). I can't get into the application, and I'm looking for the craziest internet spin on that.
My theory is that my application was so bad they've barred me from the site.
How many times can I refresh this thread and my SysPlus Application page in one day before it's considered self--harm?

Edit: still 12/24
It's probably more like "having this source of funding could allow me to attend a school that did not offer me funding", not that the school is making it contingent.
Well, hopefully the NDSEG decisions come down before COB on the 15th for everyone facing that predicament. It might be worth emailing your admissions personnel to explain the situation and see if an extension is possible (hint: it probably is). Good luck!
Still no update since December 24. Can someone make an official-looking profile and just comment here that these dates mean nothing so we all stop freakin' the geek out.
