  1. Admission to MSW programs for students without a BSW tend to be more competitive than admission to MSW for students with a BSW. You could consider applying to a 1 or 2 year BSW program (e.g. Lakehead, McMaster, etc.), which will give you the opportunity to increase your grades, complete a placement, and better your relationships with professors so you can have great references for when you apply to a MSW program in the future. I would recommend you take this next year of your undergrad to increase your grades and volunteer experience, and then apply to an accelerated BSW program. That's what I have done, and I am very happy with my decision.
  2. Wow! Seems like you have a very competitive application. Out of curiosity, if you don't mind, did U of T provide you with any feedback on how to improve your application for future years?
  3. Hey! Nice to meet you all. I'll be applying to U of T and Laurier as well, and a couple of others. Relatively nervous about the application process but looking forward to it. I have a BA, Certificate and HBSW so I'll be applying to the Advanced programs. In my BA and Certificate my grades struggled, but the HBSW is going well and I'm feeling strong about my grades. Volunteer experience spans back over the last 7 years. I held positions such as a camp counsellor, at a children's hospital, at a women's health centre, and a few other places. Work experience is limited, but related. Looking forward to hearing back from others, and hope to be in class with some of you next fall! Best of luck everyone.
  4. Would also love to hear reviews interested for 2020!
  5. Anyone interested in starting a Canada MSW 2020 group? would love to hear where everyone’s applying for next year!
  6. Hi! I'll be at the Thunder Bay campus. My admission letter outlined 4 different courses I would have to take for the summer semester that I have been eligible to enrol in for a few weeks now. I completed my enrolment about 1 week ago. Be sure to check your admission letter first. Not sure if the Orillia campus is the same though!
  7. Anyone attending Lakehead's One Year program at the Thunder Bay campus?
  8. Great! Thanks for the info. Off to scour past forums for a better idea about dates!
  9. Hi All, Does anyone know about the waitlist at Lakehead? Thanks!
  10. No results as of yet, but I'll be sure to reach out to you if accepted! Thanks for the kind offer!
  11. Anyone else waiting on Lakehead? Becoming quite impatient! Last years went out on March 28 (I believe).
  12. I am waiting also! Have been feverishly checking as many of last years applicants pointed to today for results.
  13. Hello! Long-time lurker here, but decided to finally post. I am awaiting responses on my applications to King's 2 year MSW, Lakehead's 1 year HBSW, McMaster's 2 year Post-Degree and University of Manitoba's 1 year pre-MSW. I expect we will be hearing back from King's sometime this week (eek!), and expect to not hear back from Lakehead or Mac for another month or so (minimum). There doesn't seem to be much information on U of M. Any further info on dates would be great; looking forward to seeing who I could be in classes with! Feeling very grateful for this forum. I am not sure if it has mitigated or amplified my stress levels, but either way I find it somewhat cathartic to be able to read about other people's experiences while we all navigate this stressful time.
