  7. Hi! Sorry for my delay in response. Lakehead's HBSW operates at two campuses, Orillia and Thunder Bay. They currently have very different programs compared to one another (in terms of how the year is laid out), however, regardless of campus you leave with your HBSW. From what I heard, there was somewhere in the ballpark of about 200 applicants - however, I don't know if this is the cumulative number of applicants to both campuses, or if it was the number of applicants to the campus I was at. There were 21 people in my cohort and another 40-ish at the opposing campus. The program was good, placements were great for almost all in my cohort. It is not offered online*. If you are willing to move to one of those areas (if you don't already live there), its a great option! *at least while I was there; with covid, I'm sure things have changed.
  8. Has anyone heard from UBCO (Advanced)?

  17. Hey, I think you're on the right track by improving your resume with volunteer experience. Keep in mind, most schools look at your last year or two of university, so your earlier grades may not be as relevant. Your statement of intent and your references also play a huge role. I was in a similar position to you, and chose the route of doing a one year BSW after my BA. I did this because there is less competition for MSW programs for students who have a BSW, and also because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into in terms of the career. If I could go back, I think I would do it all the same way. (I am in the Lakehead HBSW fyi - I would not do a 2 year BSW program.) It was more expensive this way, and it's been tough, but I think it will be worth it.
  18. I can't say for sure, so it's better to contact the school. However, some schools look at, say, your last 10 courses in your undergrad whereas others look at, say, your grades in your 300 and 400 level courses. So it is dependent on how Laurier calculates GPAs (this should be available online), and if your course falls into the breadth of what they use to calculate. If that course falls into what they use to calculate, I do believe your grade in that course would be included. Some schools do allow you to make notes about particularly poor results if you would like. But for questions like this it's probably best to contact the faculty to be sure! Good luck!
  19. It might be helpful to post this in one of the forums from last year or the year before!
  20. Curious - do Ontario programs accept Ontario residents more often than out of province residents? I know this is pretty prevalent in Alberta, but not sure about Ontario. Any information appreciated!
  21. Hey, I'm in the HBSW program currently if you (or if others reading this) have questions!
