  1. Hi! Congratulations on your acceptances!! I also applied and was accepted to both Hunter and U. at Buffalo. I live in NYC and there was a lot to consider. I loved Buffalo's Trauma informed program but was dismayed by the cost; whereas Hunter's cost was reasonable but their program is a very basic one and the bureaucracy is hell (I know I went to CUNY). Ulitimately, I choose Hunter because I realized UB would be about $30-40k per year considering housing and expenses and the total cost of Hunter would be only $35k since I live with my parents. I think it really depends on you: 1)Finance- Are you willing to take on the cost of the program? 2) Program- If one of your priority is program, the UB might be a good school because it's smaller, and the program is more focused and with plenty of opportunity in research. While the student body at UB is not diverse (honestly, neither is Hunter), their faculty looks amazing. 3) Long term outlook- Realistically, schools don't matter when it comes to MSW. You could get a MSW from some shoddy online school, and you'd still find a job. It only depends if you want to pursue academia. But you also have to consider that the pay is very little as a social worker so are you willing to go into extreme debt? All in all, think about what would make you happy. For me, all my friends went to Hunter, and I am starting Hunter with another friend of mine. It took a lot because I really loved UB's program and wanted to be away from home, but I realized long term, the finances doesn't work in my favor and decided on Hunter. I wish you good luck
  2. Depends on the school you're going to really. I am planning on attending Hunter come this August and doing full time. While I live with my parents, I intend to work part-time as well or apply for the Work Study and do that because I have expenses and I cannot afford to not work as well. I definitely think it is possible as long as you manage your time well. My friend, who just graduated from Hunter, was full time, and worked part time the whole two years AND has a robust social life! And her commute was like 1-2 hrs one way. While graduate programs are a lot of work, time management and organization is the key to making it all work, I believe. Plus if my friend could do it, and graduate with a 4.0 GPA, I feel like I should try it. As long as you know your limit, go for it!
  3. I filled and sent it in yesterday. I’d do it as soon as possible so they have an idea for placement. All it asks is where you live and your pst experience. I doubt you’d get any relevant info during the pre-orientation. I’m not sure if accepted day and/or pre-orientation are mandatory. I’m just getting ready to add the classes as soon as possible ? with the faculty I want!
  4. Call them! Hunter never checks their email. Always call!
  5. If you want, give them a call. My friend also applied and her application was still marked incomplete but she called today and they changed it to complete and rushed for review. I applied 1/27 and heard back the 1st.
  6. There’s a ton of different programs but: Traditional Full Time 2 Year was due in Feb 1st. Advanced Standing 1 Year is due March 10 and I believe there’s another due date for the OYR.
  7. If they are gonna scrap the interview process, they should do it for all or keep the process for everyone. I sent in my application few days before the deadline and just got an email and acceptance package via email. Hunter sure seems to be in a rush. They except me to respond by the 15th but thats when U at Buffalo is due which is my first choice....
  8. I am so confused because I just got my decision and I GOT IN! But I didn't go through the interview process so I am absolutely lost. I even called the Admissions office and they said not everyone gets an interview and she verified it as well. Has this happened to anyone else? Because another person who works at my current site also was accepted but without an interview as well. I am excited but also wondering if this was a fluke of some kind.
