That is shocking and disappointing to hear. You guys need to fight for more. At University of Waterloo, we receive approx. $5,000.00 per term from the TA contract, so $10,000.00 per year or $15,000.00 if I TA in the Spring/Summer.

Same goes for Carleton. We get almost $5,500.00 per term so I made close to 11k for two terms this year. That's for 130 hours per term.

    Hi,

I thought I would start a thread for my Ontario peers who may be gunning for the annual OGS scholarship and are awaiting acceptances or wait list as I am now. It is a little different since these are distributed by the university's so may have variance in reward timings.

Reporting from uOttawa, nothing yet but I was told to expect mid to late April.

Thanks for creating the thread. I've been wondering when uOttawa will have results for OGS. Hopefully it's this week!

Out of curiosity, is each committee allocated a certain quota or rank cutoff since the ranking is confined within each committee ???  It seems unfair if someone from biomedical is compared to someone from civil in a master ranking list.

I believe this is the case. Here is what I found:

"The research subject code (see List of Research Subject Codes for Scholarships and Fellowships) entered in the application will determine the selection committee in which the application will be evaluated. NSERC may assign the application to a different committee if it determines that the subject matter is more appropriate for another committee. The selection committees recommend scholarships for the applications they consider to be most meritorious, according to the selection criteria described in the CGS D program description and within the limit of available awards"

I haven't heard anything yet either - PGS-D Cognitive Psychology

  4. Adding to the rejections... I just received the letter via snail mail (committee is psychology). I didn't receive any email about this. The letter contains no ranking and no mention of an alternate list.

If you've been wait listed, then don't get past the wait list are you notified by a certain date? Or are you forever unsure haha

You are wait listed at uOttawa right? Same here....and it might be a long wait for us . I know someone who got off the wait list a few years ago and they didn't find out until mid April (after the first round deadline went by).

Did you have an interview with your POI?

Does not hearing back since an interview mean that you're likely on the waitlist? Are they still in the process of sending out offers?

My case is slightly different. I wrote a manuscript with my POI this year so I didn't have an "interview". We already knew each other and talked in person before I submitted the application. And not hearing back doesn't mean anything special. It could mean anything at this point. They are still sending out offers.
