Nope. Hopefully sometime this week...

Just had my first interview, which was with Johns Hopkins. Honestly not too sure how it went, but in case it's helpful for others who are preparing for interviews, the questions were very focused on my research interests, how I would tackle them from a methodological perspective, and how I saw my fit at the school. It seems they narrowed the pool down to a shortlist and are interviewing everyone on that list to narrow down further before sending out offers.

No, I applied to the political science department (not SAIS). I was originally thinking of applying to SAIS as well for a PhD but got the same message you did.

I'm mainly hoping to hear from Princeton next week, as they are usually early February. I also applied to Georgetown, GWU, Columbia, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Penn, and UCSD. I'm anticipating a UCSD rejection since they already sent out numerous acceptances, but I think that decision should also be out soon.

Congrats to the Berkeley admits! I still haven't received any decisions, but I'm looking forward to next week. Historically, it seems like a lot of schools tend to release the first week of February -- so I'd be really surprised if I still haven't heard anything a week from now.

Anyone else apply to UCSD and still waiting to receive a decision? I'm starting to assume rejection (or at least waitlist) since numerous acceptances already went out.

Did anyone else apply to Johns Hopkins? I received an interview request from them, which I'm happy about, although a bit surprised as I didn't realize it was a standard part of the admissions process. Anyone in the same boat?

Does anyone have insight on how to prepare for an interview? I hadn't originally expected that interviews would be part of this process, but it seems like maybe they are more common than I thought. Wondering whether there are any particular types of questions I should expect etc.
-
I would also love to hear back from any school today or in the next few days. I'm really surprised that GWU hasn't sent any notifications yet.
-
Got it, thanks. Strange that it seems they are not releasing all at once. Maybe rejections are coming later (lol :/).
-
Anyone claiming the UCSD acceptance? Just checked my portal, but it still says "submitted."
-
No -- I was hoping to have heard from them already given that they were already in previous years. But nothing yet.
-
Congratulations! I'd be thrilled to hear anything at this point haha

I applied with IR as my subfield--nothing so far.

I'm also seeing Georgetown interviews on the results page. Does anyone know how common it is for them to interview applicants? If you don't receive an interview request, is it likely you won't be admitted?

While we wait...what are the ages of people in this thread, if you don't mind me asking? I'd be 29 by a hypothetical program start date next fall, and I'm wondering whether I am much older than everyone or whether there are others in a similar range!

Hi all! I applied to nine programs, and while I feel that I'm a competitive applicant, the low admissions rates (everywhere!) and stories I've heard from other people who applied in years past about only getting into one or two programs are definitely giving me some anxiety. I also am MUCH more excited about the possibility of attending my top few choices than the schools lower down on my list. How is everyone coping with the torment of waiting at least another month for decisions?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anybody has experience with the MAGES (Masters in German and European Studies) program at Georgetown SFS. I'm personally quite interested in the EU and have always focused my studies around it, but I'm wondering if it's worth getting such a specific degree instead of the standard MSFS degree? On the one hand, the curriculum looks extremely interesting and pretty much exactly the sorts of courses I would love to take. On the other hand, obviously grad school is an important investment, and I don't want to unnecessarily pigeonhole myself with a degree that will not offer the same sorts of career opportunities. Assuming for discussion's sake that both degrees were an option, is there a clear better choice? Would love to hear input from anybody with knowledge on this topic, thanks!
