  1. Hmm, we must be getting close because the list of people viewing this thread is growing.... People, we are in the home stretch!! Very exciting. By the way, anyone know what the earliest time is that the mail could arrive on someone's doorstep in Canada? Average time would be helpful as well, then we know at what point in the day we can call it a day on this thread.
  2. I'm confused. Those seem like very broad categories and I don't remember being asked about those ones. Do they route your application to a particular committee based on where your sub-area fits best? I'm guessing yes and that is is a dumb question. Jeeeez, I don't think I recognized a single name on what I'm guessing is my committee (well, my committee as it was last year). I wonder how much they change, year to year.
  3. Hmm, doesn't "start of May" mean (given the context) first day of May that is a business day, i.e., next Monday? Is this an atypical/overly optimistic interpretation of that statement, or are we too cynical for our own good?
  4. If I am enrolled at a foreign institution (1st year PhD), will I be notified by my department before I receive my letter? Or do people studying at foreign institutions not get any info through their dept? Or is it only current undergrads who are notified through their dept? Very confused. :S
  5. Yes, they are pretty good with answering emails, I have found. Does anyone know the answer to this question: if I am enrolled at a foreign institution (1st year PhD), will I be notified by my department before I receive my letter? Or do people studying at foreign institutions not get any info through their dept?
  6. I was under the impression that this is what happened, at least for some candidates (external ones). I know some people with SSHRCs who applied from a foreign PhD program and they asked me what my score was. I told them I could find no score, which they said was different from last year. So I'm assuming that something has changed and scores are not being released. It's sensible not to, because it does seem that people were freaking out a lot, like you suggest above.
  7. Also, from what I can tell, no one received a score this year so far. Is this a change from last year? Should we expect scores with our letters in the final round?
  8. I will be in the "agony" camp since I'm in the US. Are the waitlisted people notified at the same time as well (i.e., that they are on the waitlist) or do they have to wait longer to hear anything?
  9. I thought clinical students can apply for CIHR funding? So, I contacted SSHRC to ask when the letters would be sent out and the reply I received was "April 2010". :S Also, could it be that the letters will be mailed over several days, so that when they say "April/early May" they mean "starting in April, possibly continuing into early May" or are we certain that the letters are all sent out at once? My guess is that the letters will go out Friday and that none of us will get them until May (next week)...
