  1. Welcome! Someone on the forum had an interview with Michener a week or two ago, so it seems likely that if you haven't heard anything from them, it's probably a no... (I'm in the same boat as you on that one, unfortunately!) Have you heard anything from anywhere else you've applied to?
  2. Just got the email too!! Congrats! I figure I'll email them first thing tomorrow morning... Don't want to seem TOO eager haha
  3. Nothing from UCSD yet for me! Any word from CMU, anybody?? I know we're supposed to hear something by tomorrow but I'm jumping every single time I have a new email...
  4. Thanks for letting us know! Hope your interview went well. Did you apply Michener or T&D (or both)?
  5. @zayzay: I applied to UCSD, UT Austin, Iowa, and Yale! Nothing from any of them... At least we're all in the same boat. @kevinmalone : I bet UT Austin's gonna take a bit longer this year. I think this is the first year they haven't had a GRE requirement so their number of applications probably shot way up
  6. I applied T&D. Haven't heard anything yet! My application status on their website hasn't changed either.
  7. JUST GOT THE CMU UPDATE!!! They'll give us more info by February 8th. Now we can relax for the weekend and get back to being anxious on Monday.
  8. Hahaha, I haven't heard anything yet! I wouldn't be surprised if it took another week-ish because they had to extend the deadline... (and now i go and check my spam filter again).
  9. If they want an interview, I'm sure they'll email us! I just keep checking gradCAS to confirm to myself that I actually submitted everything haha. But for real though, everything for CMU is submitted through gradCAS/Slideroom, right? It throws me off that none of it was actually through CMU's own website.
  10. Ahh that is TOO SOON!! I've just been nervously checking the gradCAS status page every day. Still just says "Complete." Thanks for taking one for the team and asking her haha!
  11. Welcome! Definitely more info here than anywhere else I've seen. Kinda given up on the MFA Draft facebook group cuz there's so few playwrights there... That's a lot you're applying to! I was considering applying to BU, but I remember there was some weird foreign language requirement? Or did I misread that entirely...
  12. I feel like I read somewhere that they accept 6, but now I can't remember where I feel like I read that. Mysteries abound!
  13. Whaaaaat that is definitely crazy. Maybe that's because nobody can figure out the gradCAS website (I kid, I kid).
  14. That few?? Dang. And here I was thinking it was twice that.
  15. Ohhhh yes, I'm right there with you! I just keep reminding myself that the Playwriting admissions team has to read through hundreds of full-length plays and the directing admissions team has a lot less pages to get through... (And for CMU, the deadline got pushed to January 8th, so I assume that'll push the notifications back a little bit)
  16. Hahaha! Why can't all these applications be like UT Austin where after you submit it, it explicitly says like "everything is done and is under review, chill out now." But CMU is all through the gradCAS site and slideroom, right? It weirds me out how it's the only school that doesn't have an application through the university website. Guess we'll all just have to reeeeeally keep an eye on our emails. Don't think we'll be heading anything about CMU interviews until February!
  17. @sns1106 I love Pittsburgh! I've got a lot of family there. Still a bit bitter I didn't get into the CMU BFA program haha. And as far as general anxiety goes, I'm at the point where, even though all my apps are in, I have the feeling that there was some hidden final submit button somewhere that I didn't know about... Woooo
  18. @zayzay: I don't know about Arizona specifically, but def email them! They might not be aware of the conflicting info on their website. They should respond quickly! @SuddenBeth: First time applicant also!! So I'm no expert, but I hopefully I can help! 1. As long as your formatting choice is consistent throughout the play and easy to read, I don't think it really matters that much. It's not like screenwriting where there's an incredibly strict format. Seems like the playwrights you talked to are right. 2. From the people I've talked to (who are very familiar with the whole MFA app process), the unspoken standard seems to be to submit the first 10 pages. I think that's super annoying (why would the first 10 pages be the best 10 pages, this is not how most plays work)...but I also think of the readers who are having to read 100s of samples. Why do anything that would potentially throw them off or confuse them? I'd say to play it safe and submit the first 10, but others may know better!
  19. For real, there should be an MFA Draft group for playwrights. The application process seems entirely different. Congrats on getting everything in! What career are switching from?
  20. I'm doing good! One more to go, then hopefully I never need to write another statement of purpose again. They have been the bane of my existence. We also seem to be the only folks applying to CMU!
  21. Has anybody heard anything from Yale yet, since we all seem to have applied? I know it's barely into January, but that deadline was so long ago!
  22. Nice to see the board is getting active!! I've got 3 applications in (Yale, UT Austin, and Carnegie Mellon) with just UCSD and Iowa to go. Based on what people have said in the forum previous years, seems like we should start hearing back in just over a month...
  23. Ahhh! I ended up only applying to T&D... It seemed like it had a focus on teaching and practical production compared to Michener. It still seemed like the funding was pretty decent for it though?
  24. How's everyone doing! Mid-December, feels like we're halfway through all the deadlines!
  25. I haven't heard anything about it! Last I heard about Hunter though was the faculty's in flux since Annie Baker and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins went to UT Austin.
