Oman had one boren scholar and one boren fellow last year ! I chose a small European country so I am in the same boat as you.

@bazigaar @mangofan @pangloss I apologize for establishing a definitive tone when I suggested that flagship people will receive a second email if they are moving on ! From what I saw, only some of the people who made changes during their first budget email received the follow up. Moreover, it is also possible that they eliminated the second email for everyone since it seems like they got rid of it for general applicants. I apologize to those I made worry !

Also-- in looking at the past forums, it seems like IIE eliminated the second budget email last year for everyone but the flagship applicants.

I think we will hear back on Monday the 13th. I looked at the forums from 2019, 2018, and 2017 to see when they were notified and found: April 15, 2019 (Monday) April 16, 2018 (Monday) April 17, 2017 (Monday) I think it is reasonable to assume that we will know on the 13th ! Félicitations pour tes examens ! Bien joué ! A 2 on the ILR scale is pretty great ! Depuis combien de temps apprends-tu le français ? I looked on the Boren website for AFLI and it states that Portuguese language instruction is: "Language: Instruction in Portuguese for all levels" So you should not worry about taking an OPI because they only contact people for French (and Spanish ?) !

Yeah ! At my school, you just sign a form and pay like $20 a semester to stay matriculated. You do not have to take any course. You would not graduate. You would graduate the semester you come back. Say you would be on the Boren for the Spring and Summer semester, you can graduate in the summer as long as the graduation date is after your Boren. I would recommend reaching out to your university about this thought because it might be different between universities.

It is almost time for Boren results ! Do you think we will hear back on the 13th ? Some good news right now would be nice.

Thank you for sharing that email! I am anxious if my program will be canceled because my selected country is currently on lockdown and there are no other countries where I could learn that language.

I know that they are really looking for STEM students. Usually they have a preference for more than a semester but being a STEM student might help with that!
