Did anyone visit UNC Greensboro for HDFS this weekend? I wasn't able to make the interview and would love to hear an unbiased opinion of the school/ department. Thanks in advance

I have heard back from the 3 schools I interviewed at in the week following my interview. However, I was told to expect to hear back later than that. Not sure what is common.

I applied and haven't heard anything. From the results post, I assumed a rejection.

Hi! I also applied to NIU, and I am kinda confused about what to think. My parents both went their for undergrad and my Grandpa was a professor there (a million years ago), so I have a personal and emotional connection to that school. I am from Illinois, and in my opinion NIU is not up to the same caliber as most of the schools I am applying to, so I never expected to find a research there who I would really want to work with. However, the PI I am working with now recommended the POI I applied to work with and has said that they are an excellent researcher. My PI absolutely would not say that if it was not true. I don't know if this will help you decide at all but I hope it helps some. Feel free to private message me if you want more information: POI, my PI, etc.

My application portal was updated, and I was accepted!!!! I really thought it would be a rejection since everyone was posting about getting calls. Congrats to everyone who got it!

Mine is that same weekend! But I already sent my flight info to the first school. The other school hasn't actually offered me an interview yet, but my POI emailed me yesterday and basically said it has been a while since we talked but after viewing my application she is still really interested in working with me and that I would hear from the admission committee soon regarding an interview. I took that to mean I will probably get an interview. But since I already sent my flight info to the other school I emailed her and asked if I could come another time if I were to be offered an interview. I know a lot of places with do skype interviews but I really feel like I need to see the place.

I 100% agree. I can't believe only one person has posted about it. Fingers crossed their POI is just more on top of things and we will all hear in the next few days.

The deadline was Dec 1st. They don't do interviews, I think that is why they send our acceptances so early. And THANK YOU

I know I have been posting a bunch recently, but I have another question for you all. What do you do if you are offered two interviews in the same weekend?

Yeah, it has been really weird how quickly I heard from some and have heard nothing from others. I have has 0 contact from Notre Dame, but people posted about being offered interviews on here, so I assume that they are not interested. I have also heard nothing from Northern Illinois University, but that application deadline is Feb 1st. Online is said early application is highly encouraged, so I submitted mine on Dec. 1st with the rest of my applications. I don't know when to expect to hear from them. The POI I applied to is clinical but I heard he also accepts developmental students. People have posted on here about the Clinical program which has a much early deadline. I honestly have no idea what to expect from that school. Please let me know if anyone has any insight!

I have, I was accepted into Arizona State's Family and Human development program. The only other one I applied to was UNC Greensboro and I have not heard form them yet. What about you?

Are any of you applying to Human Development programs as well as Developmental psych? I applied to two, but my background is completely in Psych. I don't know the difference and I would love any of your input or experiences.

Yeah! I face timed with my POI in September, but I haven't heard much since then. I'm going crazy! I hope we hear early next week.

Yes, I was invited to an interview Feb. 7th. I have been communicating with the developmental program director. It is my understanding that I will have my interview with both Social and Developmental faculty. My POI and I skyped and she explained what it would like like for me to be in the developmental program and have a social mentor, but she didn't explain anything regarding my application. Wish I could help more!

Yes, I heard back from Chapel hill a couple weeks ago. Even though I am applying to the developmental program my POI is in Social. All my communications have been with the social department. It could be different if you applied to work with someone in the Developmental program.

For those of you who got Penn State interviews, have you had any communication with you POI's. I applied to work with two people, KB and PC. I sent them emails in the fall and got short replies "I look forward to reading your application". The interview invitation came from someone else in the department and I have not heard from either of my POI's. This is different from other schools I got interviews at because the POI always emailed me directly and told me about the interview. Please let me know your experience with POI's at Penn State or other schools.
