Got a rejection from Tri-i, should I start finding a job...?
Knowing absolutely nothing about your experience, it looks like they place a lot of value on having a few years research experience between undergrad and grad school, based on who I know that got interviews. A lot of NIH postbacs this year.

Has anyone heard from the following programs?
Weill Cornell Tri-institutional Comp Bio program
Harvard Systems Biology
Not hearing back from Tri-I is going to drive me crazy. All my IRL friends are chemists and heard back last week. Maybe I just didn't make the cut, I know it's competitive.

That's pretty crazy. Sounds like they rejected 5000 people this year. Did you do mostly computational or wetlab research? I'm CS+Bio double major but never done any serious wetlab.
Jay Shendure and Cole Trapnell are probably my biggest reasons for applying to UW.I'm full-time computational now but I did a year in a biochem lab and I have a mix of computational and experimental experience from undergrad. A former postdoc from Cole Trapnell's lab is the one who got me in touch with him
Congrats on the EMBL interview btw, I would love to work there but US isn't a member state so I didn't even bother applying.

Ok good to hear! TRI-I is one of my favorites and I currently work here. And congrats on getting UW what's your background out of curiosity?
I have a BS in biomedical engineering, been in genomics research for three years and I've co-authored 5 publications. US citizen.
I think the main thing with UW was that I had a connection through a postdoc I met at a Hackathon a few years ago, she got me in touch with a bunch of PIs there. I have a very smart friend with similar background and research experience who applied to UW and didn't get an interview, I don't really understand why I would and she wouldn't since she's been in a *very* good lab for the last three years (but she did get an interview at Hopkins already)

Anyone heard back/waiting for TRI-I CBM??
I know that the chemical biology folks have heard back about interviews but doesn't seem like computational biology has, I'm still waiting too. I'm guessing we won't hear back until after Christmas at this point.

Has anyone heard back from Tri-I CompBio yet? They're the only school I'm waiting on now!
