Knowing absolutely nothing about your experience, it looks like they place a lot of value on having a few years research experience between undergrad and grad school, based on who I know that got interviews. A lot of NIH postbacs this year.

I'm full-time computational now but I did a year in a biochem lab and I have a mix of computational and experimental experience from undergrad. A former postdoc from Cole Trapnell's lab is the one who got me in touch with him
Congrats on the EMBL interview btw, I would love to work there but US isn't a member state so I didn't even bother applying.

nvm, just got an interview invite for 2/9-2/11. so excited!!

I know that the chemical biology folks have heard back about interviews but doesn't seem like computational biology has, I'm still waiting too. I'm guessing we won't hear back until after Christmas at this point.
