...I feel bad saying it, but...I'm actually in my first year, so this is 4 x 20,000 for me... Thanks everyone for the congrats, and here's hoping you all hear the good news soon too! Edit: Man, mudlark, yeah. It's a relief, esp. because I found out later that same day that another source of income fell through - if I hadn't won SSHRC three hours beforehand, I would have been devastated.

I had an 18.6, but different subgroups had different funding thresholds, so scores can only say so much.

Just got my update on value and duration - sounds likethey're sending a bunch today, which might explain the delay.

I take that to mean you got good news too? Congratulations!!

Thank you!! I really hope that you (and everyone else on this board) hears some good news soon!! Edit: Also, no word since then. I've asked about value and duration and such, but I think I caught them on lunch hour.

It came by email, and just says: "I am pleased to inform you that the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council is now in a position to offer you a SSHRC Doctoral Award. Please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to accept or decline this offer. Upon acceptance, SSHRC will provide you with a Notice of Award to reflect this new award."

Um, guys? I got a SDF today. Like, just now. I really hope you all hear some good news too!!

It's not that I don't want to hear it - it's good news! It's just that we've all been burned so many times by the whole "in the next few weeks" thing that I'm completely done holding my breath for this year's competition. If my situation changes and I get funding, great! If not, doesn't matter because I'm focused on next year. (Besides, I feel really good about my CV going into next year... 15 conference presentations and 2 publications, wooo!) That said, I still check this thread about once a week just to see what's what.

Meh, much rather wake up, eat a coffee cake, take bath, take nap.

Just submitted my application for next year. Best of luck, all! Also, congratulations to those who heard news!

I know that I, for one, am done contacting SSHRC for more information. I've assumed that, despite what they've been telling us all summer, there will be no more awards given. My focus now is on my application for next year. Best of luck, all!

    Agreed. So very much agreed.

Here's hoping, I suppose. Did she say why the hold was off? Did more money come in? Other people declining? And she was definitely talking about the doctoral awards, not the post-docs or masters? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm just... discouraged. And I don't take anything from SSHRC at face value anymore.

I checked in and they said the hold was still on - didn't know what I was talking about re: the hold being lifted. I don't think this bodes well.
