  1. For anyone curious about the scholarship reapplication process: I have heard back on re-reviews from two (out of three) schools where I requested additional funds. Boston College matched my highest offer and U of Chicago offered an additional 3k a year. I am still waiting to hear back on scholarships from UNC, but will most likely be attending Chicago if UNC (or my re-review at Michigan) is unable to beat their offer!

Question, and I apologize because I'm sure this has been answered:

UW Madison has offered me full tuition, but they weren't my first choice.

University of Michigan did not offer me anything.

Is there a way to communicate with Michigan that UW Madison is looking more competitive in terms of funding, but that I am very much interested in Michigan's program and want to know if there is anything else they can offer?

You can submit a re-review to Michigan for your financial aid package. Just email the financial aid office or call to have them email you the paperwork to fill out. I requested one, and fair warning it is a lot of work. Another 5 page essay and providing numbers on all your finances--from personal savings to rewarded loans.

I just got accepted into the Indiana University School of Social Work at IUPUI! I know it's not relevant to 99% of you, but thought I would share anyways. :) No financial aid info yet. Still waiting on UIC fin aid too.

I also did! I asked IUPUI for financial aid info and they said they give out scholarships the first few weeks of the fall academic year, which I thought was odd.

Yay!! Congrats! Did you get a scholarship as well? Are you committing??

I did get a scholarship! Honestly, not sure where I'll end up considering the high living costs--which may outweigh the scholarship's value in the long run. I was most excited to hear back from Chicago and Michigan, so I will probably wait to hear my financial aid package from Michigan before making any decisions! I'm starting to realize how large the debt burden will be, which is a little scary... I do plan to visit both Michigan and Chicago--since I'm in driving distance of both.

    Same!

I applied to Berkeley MSW 2 year program, but I thought that we would be hearing back in Feb? MARCH IS TOO LONG OF A WAIT. Can someone confirm? March or Feb?

I just looked on their website and it says everyone should be notified by March 15th. Seems pretty late to me, since some schools are already asking for decisions before March

  6. I still haven't received the pdf version (also heard via phone and email confirmation on the 14th). Pretty frustrating if they are only sending PDF acceptance letters and not including financial aid/merit scholarships! I have to give BC an answer on my scholarship by mid-Feb, and would really love to have some idea of Michigan's cost in order to make a decision. ? Hopefully Chicago sends scholarships as well if they do end up releasing decisions tomorrow!

Question for those who have been accepted to UMich: it seems like y'all received a phone call? Did they also email you later on? I don't like the idea of a phone call since they might call when I'm busy and I won't be able to answer, but also, I may not answer an unknown number.

I'm also tempted to contact admissions, but I feel like it's too early for that - has anyone done it though? I submitted my application on December 1st, and the website says I should hear back by March 1st...so I still have several weeks (I also submitted the day of so they likely haven't even gotten to my application yet). But it seems like people are already getting a decision!! Aggh, I can't take this wait!!

Yes received via phone call! They said they'll be sending out official emails in the next few weeks, but the individual I talked to did sent a follow-up email after our brief conversation. I would imagine they would leave a VM and email you if you miss the phone call.Since they are calling all the individuals accepted, I'm also guessing it will take more than a few days to contact everyone. Don't be too nervous; hopefully you'll here sometime this week!!

I am also waiting on IUPUI! Are you from Indy? I am & I'm eager to hear back. Hopeful for solid financial aid.

Not from Indy, but I do live in Indiana!

What deadline did you apply to for Mich? I'm wondering when I'll hear back if people are already getting answers! Congrats!

Thank you! I applied for the Dec 1st deadline!

  9. Also received an acceptance call from UMich today!! They said they are sending out official letters in the next few weeks and will be notifying students later of financial aid packages--hoping this also means merit based scholarships?? Still good news!!

Accepted: Boston College, University of Michigan

Applied & Waiting: Berkeley, UNC, IUPUI, UChicago

Congrats! What is your topic pick?

Also can I ask what your stats are and scholarship amount to BC? I didn't receive any funding :(, so I am declining my spot there for sure. But I have heard they are really generous with scholarships - so I was surprised.

Top choices are UChicago and Michigan, but I am still awaiting news from both. I was given $40,000 to BC--dispersed over two years, but they did ask for an answer by Jan. 10 (which I requested and was approved for an extension). Funding is a big concern for me as well--If I don't receive funding from the other programs, I'll probably end up at BC. Stats: I graduated from cum laude from a Top 30 undergraduate program with a Sociology degree (WGS minor). I'm on my second year of AmeriCorps service to income-qualified residents--where I do energy audits, education, and minor home repairs. Best of luck!
