  1. UCSD rejection here too but I knew it was coming. All rejections this year....except for my new apartment approval, which will have a dedicated writing sanctuary. My next steps are to continue to refine my writing practice and voice. Continue to read and see shows. And continue to give myself grace. Most likely won't be applying next year but the year after is in the cards. I took this process too personally and submitted a very vulnerable piece that took a LOT out of me but I'm better for it. I've given myself what I call a "pre-MFA time", which may never actually result in an MFA but will result in me learning, living, and evolving as a writer. Additionally I will be saving my money and getting my financial house in order. When the opportunity does come, I'll be ready. Onward and across then over, upward with a zig and a zag....but onward always.
  2. Hmmm wondering if NYU may now be out for me too. Maybe. Could be. Possibly. For those re-applicants, how did you approach your revisions? Because this process is so subjective, I'm now even wondering how I will go about re-applying. Of course, I will learn more things, eat more cookies, workshop more, and read/see more but I just don't know how to even approach refining what I don't even know was an issue. 3. Rejected from Yale as well. NYU is the only school left to hear back from. This is what Ms. Fields cookies were made for though... right?
  4. Congrats on the interview @Zadican!!!! I haven't heard anything from UCSD. My homework from therapy, which I will share with/assign to you all is to plan and execute a date night for yourself. I assume if you have a partner you can include them, him, her, or any combination in between. That said, I have a reservation for one at the White Castle on Valentine's Day...and I can't check devices during my date. Just me and some burgers! Any one reading any new plays or seeing shows?
  5. Has everyone filled out their FAFSAs and related docs? Having to explain to the parentals that despite being an independent adult, I still need their financial info is ummmm interesting. "Why do they need this? ...."Because they just do mommmm". It's akin to when you show older folks a meme and they're like "who is that?". Hell if i know just laugh with me. Gotta love 'em though. Re-read some of my school's finaid reqs and they also want a signed copy of the tax return mailed so if you are like me and needing something to pass the time....get those docs in. I wish I' could know if I'd hear back before I bare my financial soul but whatevs. Happy waiting frens.
  6. Exactly! it's hard to get applicable information like how funding works and the acceptance cycle because of the program differentiation. I was seeing some creative writing folks getting their acceptances today so I had to turn off my notifications. I majored in Film Production in undergrad...couldn't find a job (recession era) so I shifted into the cruel world of advertising because.....loans. Started writing more consistently again within the last 2 years so finally made the jump to dedicate the life i have to the life i want.
  7. I contemplated whether or not I would continue to lurk or join but here I am. Like you, I've read and re-read all the pages of this forum multiple times over and now that the waiting game is now my anxiety's adversary, hoping that this place will be a bit of supportive refuge. MFA Draft is cool but not enough playwrights to commiserate with. All apps are in (Yale, NYU, and UCSD). First time applicant. Career switcher. So hello all and congrats on your journeys. Looking forward to hearing more.
