  1. This was part of the reason I turned down UW (in addition to offering the smallest financial aid package and spotty contact with advisors) Due to my advanced standing placement I needed to submit my field application the first week of April. To gain access to their bank of agencies I needed to accept the offer of admission and pay the enrollment $250 fee. It felt very weird to me as no other school I was dealing with re: advanced standing placements was withholding access to agency lists. UW also gave the vibe of somewhat pressuring me to accept admission before the April 15th date in order to not be behind on receiving a field placement. One school even emailed me and said they were waiving enrollment fees due to the virus and were extending the timeline to accept financial aid/admission.
  2. I hate to double post but the notifications about financial aid was updated. It now says that my application for financial aid is being reviewed and I'll be able to view my reward offer soon. So if anyone else has been waiting on pins and needles like me, it should be soon!
  3. My university is on Spring Break right now and our Field Director is trying to balance options between what the university says we can do in terms of internship vs. what CSWE says we should do. To be honest it's a bit of a mess. My grad school options however seem to be handling everything fairly well, I get frequent email updates.
  4. I do have the same message, the last I heard was that aid will be released on or shortly before the 30th.
  5. Have you set up your MyUW account yet? On the main page there is a link titled, "Student Finances", if you click on it, it will take you to a list where, "Financial Aid Status" is a clickable link.
  6. I agree. I would like to start filling out some financial reconsideration forms, asking if Denver could match offers from other schools, but so far I only have Bryn Mawr and I would like them to also do a financial reconsideration haha. I'm also trying to be understanding due to the campus closure and everyone working remotely. It can't be easy.
  7. I've been checking for financial aid like crazy, and today, the message center changed messages. I don't even remember what it said before, but now it says, "We have received your financial aid application for the year but have not yet awarded you aid."
  8. I have an interview with my assigned UW Field Faculty. Has anyone else gone this far in their process yet? If so what was it like, what did you discuss? Did you have any questions you asked?
  9. What concentration are you with? (I am Admin and Policy Practice concentration and got my email at about 1PM MST today)

Hello! I was accepted to the Social Work Graduate program at Bryn Mawr for the upcoming year. I have family in the Harrisburg area, but nothing in Philadelphia. My admissions advisor said that most graduate students live in Philadelphia and commute out to Bryn Mawr for class two days a week. What would be some good areas to look into that are close to the train that is out to Bryn Mawr?
  11. So for my Advanced Standing colleagues, for the Field Placement Application that's due this Friday, what are you putting for your living situation/address?
  12. My sister completed her Psychology PhD with a small stud in her nostril, as well as several tattoos (all can be covered by professional style clothing). I have 4 tattoos and the only ones you can see are small ones on the insides of my ankles. I wish I could get a piercing, but my ears are allergic to most metals and I don't think I'd want to test out that allergic reaction on my nose haha. You should absolutely be fine. Your professionalism, conduct and academic and professional record should all speak for itself during the interview.
  13. Hello! Thank you for offering your help to those of us that would be moving to Seattle! I plan to not bring my vehicle to Seattle and will instead use public transportation. What are some areas to look into for housing that wouldn’t be too long of a commute? As someone moving from a warm climate, what are some things to look for when renting?
  14. I've been admitted to Bryn Mawr. I'm really excited!
