  1. Depending on the job, I would even leave off the bachelor's degree... I tried circulating resume's with and without my bachelor's degree listed, and honestly, I got more call backs and interviews from the ones where I didn't mention it at all. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm also starting at SFU in September in the MPH program. Nice to meet you all! I already have a place in Burnaby, but good luck to those searching! Rent is a bit expensive in this city...
  3. Didn't let me choose two options... I tried. MPH in Global Health (International)
  4. Honestly.... 50% hard work for little pay/volunteer work and 50% luck in finding a good enough position in a related field. Most people I have talked to, myself included, started out volunteering in their field years before they wanted to get in, and showed a continued and varied commitment to finding work (volunteer and paid) in the health field before applying. Taking a year off might work out in your favour, but it could also lead to a frustrating 6 month job search and an unimpressive 6 month job or unpaid volunteer position. In your position, I would probably try and find volunteer work in your field as soon as possible, and work on your job connections through volunteering. Then start applying for jobs, and see if you get any... you could also accept the offer to the school you did get into and then only take a few courses that are required in all MPH programs (Biostats, or Into to public health... something like that) which you could use as transfer credits and as a way to boost your application to your preferred program next year. Good luck!
  5. Thanks! And good luck with your application - I have many friends that go to UVic (grad and undergrad both) who LOVE the school. It is small, but that certainly has advantages too. I love their campus...
  6. Hi everyone, I've been on this forum since last year, but haven't checked in a long while... just came on today to see where others have been accepted/reactions etc. This is my second year applying to MPH programs in Canada, so for those of you who were waitlisted this year - don't give up! I was waitlisted last year and it was incredibly frustrating, especially since some schools (*ahem* SFU) take such a long time to get back to applicants. But this year I was accepted! Hurray! So I'll be seeing some of you in September, and hopefully some of you who are going to other schools, further down the line. I have messaged D0M and sfu4mph on a private thread, but if anyone else is going to SFU and I missed you, please msg me also!
