  1. Congratulations!! My interview is later this week, any advice? Their interview schedule is pretty long compared to other interviews I have had, what did you do to stay engaged in the hours and hours of informational sessions? Anything to avoid doing or saying (specific to them)?
  2. same with me; many started by them saying "tell me about yourself". I was told that the best way to answer this question is to prepare a 2 min elevator pitch: start out with an introduction (my name is... the degree i have is... from...) then talk about your research experiences sequentially and briefly (like 2 sentences each), give a sentence about how these experiences led you to ur main interest topic (i said "the skills I learned from both of my experiences contributed to my interest in molecular bio. and more specifically cell signaling and metabolism), close off with a sentence or two about why this program would help you to pursue that interest (like; you like how program is interdisciplinary, the program is known for your interest, the program has professors who specialize in your interest...). otherwise prepare a long long list of questions for the PI about the program and about their lab that way if the convo goes stale you still seem interested in their lab and the program. (some questions that interviewers responded positively for me was; "what type of mentor are you hands on or hands off" "during rotations in your lab do you pair them with current grad student or post doc or are given independent project" "do your lab members socialize outside the lab and do they get along with each other on more then a professional level" Good Luck!
  3. No I am from the US. I remember reading on their website that very few International applicants are invited for interviews. However it seems like their admissions is very nice and willing to help when emailed, maybe you can reach out to them about their timeline. Good Luck!!
  4. Hi yes I did, will be interviewing next week during the second interview weekend (out of 4 dates I think)
  5. thanks for responding and congratulations! I really hoped to have gotten an invitation from this program but its alright! Im just happy I was invited to other UT campuses!!
  6. thanks for responding and congratulations!! Im hoping they havnt finished sending out invitations!!
  7. Has anyone here heard back from UT Austin cell and molecular bio program? i saw a couple of people post today that they got an interview invitation for this coming week! Anyone know if this is going to be their only interview dates? Do they send out invites all together or slowly? would emailing the graduate coordinator or a PI that I had met with informally (early December which went very well; emailed me after saying they hope to see me on campus in their lab next year) be appropriate? is it still to early to be assuming a rejection? should I just continue waiting?
  8. Anyone else having an issue with their Baylor COM app status? I have had two emails from them so far; first was to tell me I was moved to second choice program and second was telling me they will have an answer for me soon. The last email was almost a month ago. Now, when I try to get onto my status page it gives an error ((vm.errorModel[O])) has anyone else had this issue???
  9. Congratulations!!! I wonder if it is the same admissions committee or it is separate for the cell and molecular biology program. I guess the only thing to do is be patient!!
  10. Has anyone heard back from UT Austin Cell and Molecular Biology? My application status changed to "sent to graduate graduate committee for review." a while ago but nothing yet...
  11. I think that the secondary applications are only for international applicants.
  12. Thanks! there was four options for interviews, each one based on different interests in the program's tracks. They also asked for a list of professors to potentially meet with during the interviews. Good Luck!
