  1. Really enjoying some of the recent discussions on here ya'll. My favorite so far is: a: "Who hurt you?" B: "The ruling class" This is art^ Anyway. I for one am going to start an MFA program in the fall, whatever that looks like. I'm attending a fully funded program, and I'm ready for this adventure. Maybe i'm going to make art in my apartment while taking zoom classes?? Who knows. Welcome to the Quarantine Cannon. Just want to remind everyone we are all humans doing the best we can. If you go to school this fall, expect joy and pain. If you don't, expect joy and pain. to quote @honghong "Know that art, like life, will bring you to your knees. In humility, in sadness, in awe. Be courageous. Existence requires that of you, no matter what you do. " ps, here are my stats: University South Florida: accepted, offer declined today Cranbrook: accepted, offer declined today Purchase: Accepted, offer declined today Syracuse: Accepted, offer declined today University of Texas at Austin: accepted off waitlist, accepted their offer yesterday CMU- rejected Northwestern- rejected RISD- Rejected Yale- rejected In GradCafe we trust xo
  2. @SeriouslyStellar I reached out to GSU last week to check on status. I never received an interview request from them. This is what they said: "I want to give you an update regarding your graduate application status for the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design. We are in the process of determining our 2020-21 incoming graduate class and there are still many variables in play. We have sent out the first round of acceptance letters. However, just because you have not heard from us does not mean that your status will not change in the coming weeks as we gain more knowledge about our acceptances and any possible funding improvements within departments. Please know that we appreciate your patience and we hope to have additional information for you soon."
  3. FYI, accepted to Cranbrook sculpture today, official offer letters to be sent out for that department this week. Syracuse also sent out official offer letters today. Hope everyone is doing well! Grad school decision process during the time of Coronavirus is wild ya'll!!
  4. Hi @Hinata, Yes its one of my top choices! fingers crossed we get good funding offers.
  5. Hi @hinata Congrats! Wondering if you received an official offer letter from USF with details of funding? Best of luck on your decision!
  6. Hi there, in this case ^ what would you be negotiating? Asking for more fellowship money for the 20 hrs of TA work? Asking for same amount of money with less than 20 hrs of TA Work? Curious to know what terms are negotiable and which are not. It sounds like you have knowledge in this area! I am great at business/salary negotiations, but know nothing about what's kosher to negotiate with grad mfa offers. What are your thoughts?
  7. @apple-orange-pear-plum Hi! waitlisted for UT Austin Sculpture as well. Hope we get offers!
  8. @HydroHydra Thanks! Good to know.
  9. Has anyone heard from RISD or CMU sculpture yet?
  10. Seconding this, if anyone has more info on UT Austin would be great to hear.
  11. Hi Everyone, Here are my stats Yale (rejected) Cranbrook (Interview March) University of Texas, Austin [transmedia](Interview feb 5th) Northwestern (Not contacted yet) CMU (Not contacted yet) RISD (Not contacted yet) Georgia State University (Not contacted yet) University of South Florida (Not contacted yet) Hope everyone is burning incense, meditating, sleeping, and not freaking out during this limbo stage. And if you are, it's ok, me too. MAY WE FEEL PEACEFUL AND STRONG IN THIS PROCESS.
  12. That's helpful, thanks! Hope you had a good interview.
  13. Hi wondering for cranbrook, if you have a phone interview or if they also extended a letter to you saying they were interested and that you should come for the Visit Day and "speak with" said faculty "individually"? (thats what I got) It's like I cant accept it unless they quite literally say "INTERVIEW" x
  14. Real talk, can anyone talk about the process of; when you have offers, what they usually contain ( financial package, deadline to answer by?) and what is Kosher in terms of financial negotiation? How have people handled this process before, what can we expect? I've heard negotiation is expected? Thank you!!!
  15. Wow, this is so helpful, thank you so much. I applied to the sculpture department. I am not a POC, but I am Jewish, and I'm sorry to hear about the lack of diversity and it's impacts. I am more introverted, I do love to collaborate with others/cross pollinate and learn things interdisciplinary— but Im not trying to go out all the time with people, or live an extrovert lifestyle. I need studio time and solitude too. Funding is the most important thing for me at the end of the day. Thanks so much for your reply!
  16. ALSO, funding your studies. Does anyone have experience with private sponsors, non fafsa loans, and diversity scholarships/organizations?
  17. Hi, Just wondering if people could speak on Cranbrook? What are your issues with the program? I applied to CMU, northwestern, RISD, Cranbrook, Utexas, Yale, and some backup schools. I really am hoping to get in for 2020, as my art practice just needs to be nurtured, mostly by time and skill acquisition. Cranbrook isa school I was on the fence on because it seems like its not going to be well funded. What do you think?
