  1. Finally rejected from Brown! Yay
  2. So...is anyone going to contact Princeton today?
  3. To everyone who just got rejected from UW, here is what my English prof there had to say: "We just finished our admission yesterday and we rejected many stellar applicants because we do not feel that we could support them in the work they are proposing, or because the people they want to work with are overburdened with other commitments at the moment. It often does not have to do with the work itself."
  4. couldddd you please let us know what they say? I'm waiting on Brown (assuming it's an implied rejection)
  5. Stay strong everyone!! It's not over yet!
  6. Does anyone know when we'll hear from Princeton?
  7. Congrats!!! That's amazing
  8. oof I just saw that and the nerves are back
  9. okay that's a good idea, thank you!
  10. I'm on a waitlist at a school that I am not interested anymore (got an offer that I'm almost 85% taking depending on if I get into other schools). What is the best language to use to email the school that I don't want to be on the waitlist anymore? Or should I wait until I have officially accepted an offer?
  11. I ended up giving a quick thank you, conveyed my appreciation, and then said i planned to attend the visit days and that i'd put my info in the rsvp form. Update: Got a super kind reply from the DGS that was also highly personalized. Highly recommend sending thank yous from now on!
  12. I was also admitted to Berkeley and was wondering if and how to reply to an admission offer email? It seems to be a generic email from the DGS with the specifics of my package/offer, and information about visit days (with a separate RSVP form).
  13. Thank you! I didn't even send in my subject test score...what in the world. Shocked.
  14. Oh my goodness....I got into Berkeley??? Funding for five years!!! WHAT
  15. I just got rejected too. Kind of a bummer.
  16. According to their website they do not do interviews! I feel like they received a ton of applications this year, and need a couple extra weeks to sort it all out. Thanks for reaching out to them!
  17. I’ve been lurking here for a while, mostly applying to English programs, but did anyone hear back from Rutgers or know when their decision date is?
  18. If you do end up calling it would be great if you could post what the coordinator ends up saying about a decision date!
  19. I was tempted to call today, but then decided not to because although last year's result day was Jan 28, the year before was around Feb 1. My application still says "in review". Not sure what your status change means but it might be a good sign for you!
  20. you should definitely call back! even if it's not an admissions person, it's still a nice thing to do because you never know who's calling. idk!
  21. I'm waiting to hear from UT Austin (English), in addition to two other non-English programs this week, and am in agony. We have to all make sure we are practicing self care!! I asked my friend who is now in an English program how her wait was, and she said that she had to go therapy because it messed with her mind and body so much. So take this time to really care for yourself, because stress manifests in unexpected ways. Also, this friend of mine got rejected the first time, and accepted to a few schools her second round, so maintain hope Also, Berkeley's grad admin person told me that they should be sending results out next week, which is a week earlier than they did last year I think. He told me this after telling me that it was okay that I didn't submit a subject test score....ughhhh don't know what it means and my analytic abilities are flailing. But alas, time IS moving whether we feel it or not.
  22. Also did anyone else apply to Berkeley and forget to turn in a subject test score? Lolz.... Thankfully I am not disqualified. I guess it's a good sign that they took the time to reach out and ask? Or am I trying to find a light at the end of a tunnel that is really just pitch black dark?
  23. This is the SLOWEST MONDAY OF ALL TIME.
  24. Hi everyone, I'm also a Fall 2020 applicant, interested in queer theory and postcolonial studies (broadly speaking). I have been anxiously checking the results page and this forum for a few weeks now, and thought about joining in to quell my nerves. Is anyone else's jaw super sore all the time, and breathing erratic? I want this slow-burning anxiety attack to enddd. I applied to a bunch of schools, mostly English and a few gender/women's studies. So far, I got an interview request from a women's studies program but English programs are SILENT so far (didn't apply to any of the schools that have been sending folks interviews so far). Anyways, I have no questions at the moment, but just wanted to join the cesspool of nervous wrecks
