  1. Hi has anyone ever tried requesting interviews from the schools? I'm nervous about my applications because I transferred from a big uni to a smaller college in my senior year, and I had a few terms of medical leave with a lower gpa for the first two years. Those experiences may make me look inconsistent and tardy although I really worked hard& drastically improved my grades in the last two years. I tried my best to explain those situations, but i'm still really anxious. I usually do pretty well in interviews, so I am just having the thoughts of proactively requesting them from some schools. would that be a bad idea considering how busy the admissions can be?
  2. Congrats!!! Did you apply for the Dec deadline?
  3. you have such an excellent background!! congrats on your acceptance! hard work does pay off?
  4. Anyone heard any news about uchicago this week?
  5. When I called UPenn yesterday, they told me that the earliest available session was already at the end of Feb. Maybe this is because I am an international student? I have heard that my interviewer has interviewed a lot of international students before, so maybe mine was scheduled depending on her availability?
  6. They finally contacted you!! Are you going to do the interview in person or through zoom?
  7. Good luck to both of us!!
  8. Did you call them to schedule? Ive heard that you get an interview as long as you meet their basic requirements, so I guess we have a chance? Mine is scheduled in late February, and Im already so nervous lol
  9. I submitted my form on the 24th, so I'm sure you will receive yours soon!
  10. I received the interview email from UPenn just now and called to schedule. The earliest opening is already in late February!
  11. I'm wondering if our concentrations affect the application process? I applied only for macro/research tracks
  12. I'm waiting too. I submitted on 01/24, but one of my professors did not upload her letter until this morning. However, as soon as my professor submitted her letter, my portal status changed to "ready for review." I ve heard that for some people it usually takes longer for the admissions to update the status, even after they have all the materials. So, I'm assuming that they are working pretty closely on sorting the materials and stuffs
  13. Thank you for the suggestion! I'm also waiting to schedule an interview with UPenn. Good luck to the both of us!
  14. Hi can anyone please give me some suggestions? I was originally planning to apply for some MA/MPP programs that require GRE, and those programs have late March/April deadlines, so I registered for a January test. My scores just came back and I got 161verbal and 4.5 aw. I really wanna get into some of the MSW programs that I applied, but I have already submitted my applications without GRE scores. Should I still contact the admissions to ask if I could send in my GRE scores now? Any help would be appreciated! thanks!
  15. I haven't had an interview yet, but I also had to explain my transcript in my applications because I had many Ws due to several terms of medical leave. I've heard that as long as you frame it like something that motivated you to grow and do better it will be fine. let them know that your gpa cannot really represent your actual abilities. telling them about your other academic related achievements would probably help.
  16. I also submitted my application for Uchi on 01/15. They just started releasing decisions for ppl who applied for the 12/01 deadline last week. we can just wait for now I guess?Good luck to both of us!!
  17. No I didnt. My toefl requirement was waived because I received my undergrad education in the U.S.. I do have pretty good scores but they expired bc I took the tests a few years ago. But, thank you anyways! I'm so anxious, but everyone here is so supportive and amazing!!
  18. Thank you for your kind words! I think those were pretty obvious mistakes though.?However, there's nothing that can be done now, so I'll have to focus on coming applications!
  19. Thank you!! i was so anxious, but reading this made me feel better?
  20. I just took a look at my UChicago essay and found 2 grammar mistakes. English isn't my first language, and I'm so scared that the admissions would think I'm bad at it now.
  21. I submitted my Penn app yesterday too! I'm sure yours is better than you thought though. Congrats on getting you applications done! Fingers crossed for both of us!
  22. It's weekends again... so much anxiety
  23. Thanks OP for all these positivity!!
  24. Hi! Thanks for the reply! We are on the same boat here. I attended two undergrad colleges because I transferred. My gpa at my first college was around 3.26. The cumulative of 3.76 is just for my current school. I think usually they place much more attention on the last few semesters, and since we both improved our grades over time, I hope we both get in!
  25. I applied to UChicago on 01/15. I am new grad with a cumulative of 3.76, but I took several terms of medical leave halfway through I have so many Ws on my transcript. I do have a lot of volunteer experiences but I'm still really anxious. However congrats everyone!! Hope we'll all have good luck!
