They sent a very generic email to check the portal which had a multi-page attachment about funding and such. I have no clue how many people they usually admit overall but I hope you hear back soon!

Thanks for the info! Seeing the two acceptances posted, I’m thinking I may have an implied rejection on my hands so far, but I’ll hold out hope a bit longer!

Got in at Buffalo with a pretty nice stipend considering the living cost in that area, congrats to all the other admits from today and especially to anyone who got their first acceptance! Good luck to everyone going into the next week of February.

    That’s amazing! Congratulations!!!

If you don’t mind my asking, how did they contact you? That’s one of the schools I’m waiting to hear from. :)

  3. Hi there! This is actually my area of focus as well. In the United States, the University of Florida has an excellent comics studies program. There are also several colleges and universities that are home to some of the top scholars in the field, so even if you don’t get a degree specifically in comics studies, you can focus your degree on that area by working under/with them. I’d advise that you look into the scholars you would be most interested in working with, and apply to the schools where they are located.

If you’re willing to consider places outside of the states, I have to recommend Dundee’s program in Scotland. The group of scholars there are all phenomenal. Wishing you luck!

Am I the last human being that hasn't heard any word from any program so far? I am even scared typing this because I feel as though I will be praying for a response only to get a rejection. Mostly just tired of being nervous...it's a slow-motion train crash...

I don't post very much, but I wanted to chime in to let you know you're not alone. I own a house and my husband has a local business, so I am limited to one area for applications, and I haven't heard back from any yet. I feel good about my application, but the longer I wait, the more I wonder if I'm headed for a shut out. Not much I can do at this point, but I can really relate to wanting to just stop feeling nervous and anxious.

Hopefully we all hear more soon! There is still a lot of time, and a lot of room for hope.

  5. Congratulations to everyone who is getting acceptances and interviews! That’s wonderful news!

I finally made an account to check in and see if anyone has heard from SUNY Buffalo yet? It looks like in past years, people have started hearing back in late January/early February, but I’ve got nothing but radio silence so far.

    Good luck to everyone!
