I applied to the master's program for NC State. Is it safe to say I will be receiving a rejection at this point as I haven't heard anything??

Also haven't heard back from other NC schools, ECU or APP. Has anyone heard anything?

The waiting is driving me crazy!

I gather that NC state is doing everything differently this year, so I wouldn’t lose hope just yet.

Has anyone heard anything from UNC Chapel Hill? I know they have the late deadline but I did see that some people had been contacted by PIs

I had an early interview about 2 weeks ago but no offer yet. The professor told me then that they planned to *possibly* start making some initial offers to top candidates “in the next couple weeks” so naturally I’m refreshing my email and the decisions board like a crazy person. For what it’s worth, I also applied last year, had an early interview, and didn’t get chosen. I’ve found it difficult to predict any sort of timeline with them since it’s all apparently done one student at a time.

Do you all think it’s appropriate to reach out to schools we haven’t heard from or should I just wait it out?

My personal rule based on my own experience working in higher Ed and monitoring this site, is to wait until 5 weeks after their admissions deadline before reaching out. At that point they can usually tell you if you’re on the waitlist or not, because they’ve made initial offers and have some idea of the spots left. Reaching out before then is unlikely to get you any new info and you run the risk of annoying them. Just my opinion. ?

    Good morning everyone!

I was considering applying to UNC by Feb 9th deadline. I saw a lot of mixed discussion on here about the program. I was just curious about what some of the main pros/cons would be of this program?

I gathered from the website that it can be completed in less time than a traditional school psych PhD, especially if you are entering with a related masters. They have 2 deadlines- one for priority financial consideration (scholarships, assistantships, etc) and then a later deadline where funding is possible but not as likely.

I know some people are irked about them holding the open house after technically contacting some top candidates already, but to clear things up (I spoke with a professor) they had not sent out offers at that point, just scheduled some interviews. From my understanding they may possibly make some offers before the feb 9 deadline so you’d possibly have lower than the program’s (10% I think it was) admission odds by applying later but it’s still possible to get in.

Hope that helps. Good luck in your decision!

Hey! Is it ok to ask when the interview invites were sent out for UNC?

I got an email from a professor at the end of January and we scheduled a video interview for the next week. The email was just to me, not a group, so I gather they’re sending these one by one. Hope that helps!
