  1. I'm doing a campus visit next week, and already am impressed just because my POI is planning on spending a large part of the day with me and escorting me to see various resource facilities. She also invited me to sit in on her seminar, and provided the syallbus and reading assignments for that day so that I can participate in their discussions. I don't have anything else to compare this experience to (aside from this school, I have one rejection, one acceptance from a UK school, and waiting on the rest) but colleagues have expressed that it's pretty rare for a POI to dedicate that much time to a visit. From my experience with my undergrad, I'm also looking forward to meeting the Coordinator. My undergrad program transitioned from one department to another, and we lost a great coordinator in the process - I didn't realize how much it made a difference until I had to work with someone who wasn't very friendly or reliable.
  2. Check out: Tulane dual Latín Americans Studies and Art History program UBC - Faculty specializing in NA indigenous art
  3. Is your program MS counseling? Or A PsyD or PhD- I specifically am not interested in the latter, knowing it would be harder to get in somewhere. I’m also more interested in practicing, not so much research.
  4. So I applied for a Fulbright I didn’t get, and can’t find any other options to fund tuition at University of Glasgow. Anyone know of any scholarships available for a US student studying in the UK/Scotland? (Masters in Art History)
  5. I replied as well- especially since they haven’t determined funding yet. Want to leave a good impression.
  6. I applied to UBC and no results yet. I’m impatient to find out because I got accepted to two schools (rejected from one) and am waiting on two more. One of my acceptances was for University of Glasgow and they want a decision before I expect to hear back from the rest of my schools ??‍♀️
  7. I applied to Art History at UT Austin, and my understanding is that they notify pretty late (mid-late March.)
  8. Maybe this is absolutely insane, but during the wait I've spent time thinking of backup plans outside my career if this round doesn't work out. This isn't because I don't absolutely love the field, but I don't have much familial financial support and my career in the arts hasn't been kind to my bank account thus far. In my mind, if I can't study art history without going further into student loan debt, I need to make sure I will still be ok, and thinking of other game plans has helped me relax. I despise this capitalist myth that you should live to work. I'm telling myself that if I have to do another type of work to live, I can still enjoy art and art history. ...is this crazy? lol
  9. I applied to UBC (MA) - my status also still says in progress.
  10. Hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone has changed career paths and were admitted to an MS in Counseling program. I'm coming from an arts background, exploring the possibility of changing careers. -No psychology experience beyond undergrad 101. -A degree in one art field, a career in another art field. -I've been out of school for 7 years. - 3.4 GPA, - GRE scores of 96th percentile in verbal, 92nd in writing, and 41st in math (I hella messed up on math not keeping track of time, and can retake it expecting to get at least 50th percentile.) I'm interested in becomming a LPC. Are there any programs you have been admitted to that did not require a related bachelor's degree? I have the opportunity to take some undergrad classes between now and next round deadlines, but rather not spend another few years getting a second bachelors degree. Thanks gradcafe masses!
  11. I don't think so! I got accepted into a program this year without an interview, although I was invited to speak with my POI and other faculty. I've heard from 3 out of 5 schools I applied to (one MA/Phd combined, the rest MA) and have heard back from 3 (two stateside, one international). Waiting to hear back from another US school and another international school.
