Hey everyone ! Hope all is well ! My program, like many, have decided to go completely online for the Fall semester , and I feel fine with it... I think... but I've never done online classes before I didn't care for them as I prefer in person but I came to the conclusion that as long as I get my education and can still begin getting ready for my career, I'll deal with it , I just wanted to hear everyone else opinions or thoughts about online classes, i.e. how to stay on track with online classes, is it a drastic change from in person classes, anything really since I haven't done them before and my field placement seems like its going to be a mix of online and in person, my mind has been all over the place trying to figure out how this is going to work and I just want to make sure I am getting the most out of my education and getting probably equipped for the field even if this is my first semester but I am so excited and want to do the best I can !

Yeah, I took the day to come to terms with and honestly as long as I can get my education and get the proper learning that I need to do my job properly and efficiently, it being online for now doesn't bug me as much lol I'm just going to treat it as an in person class, get up and do my normal schedule, find a quiet space to work and hope for the best lol

Yeah, I want more information on how the internships are going to look like, and I hope they give that information out soon because I was setting up to move by early August. This just threw me for a complete loop now I feel like I can't focus on anything else right now lol August is far, yet so close, so I feel like I need to make a decision immediately but at the same time, I don't think I want to defer, I really want to get started and I'm hoping its just online for the Fall !

Will you still start this Fall or defer ?

I was literally coming on here to say the same exact thing ! I don't know to feel about it... like at first I was fully open and accepting to the idea of online but now that it's official, I am bummed out. It's so close to starting, I don't think I even want to consider the option of deferring.

Hey ! Thank you so much for starting this because I have been flipping out !! I have heard back that my program (BC) intends on starting in the Fall on campus, and I already have a field placement and will continue with my degree whether it's online or not but my worry just has to do with whether or not I have to move, because they say its going to be on campus now but I am just thinking if they change the program from on campus to online very late in the summer and that throws off my housing plans but I am excited to start my degree , I want to get out into the field and start my career so I feel ready to handle online classes if it comes to that, I just hope its not that way lol

Nope, no news yet about financial aid, I only got the email about the plans for the Fall and the course registration link for next week. At this point, I am starting to think I won't ever hear back lol

This made me feel so much better about my decision to continue! So thank you! There is nothing wrong with deferring of course, and I had friends and family who were telling me to defer but I know I want to continue on and get my degree so I can work in the schools like I always dreamed of ! Right now, I am working in a job that I like but I don't enjoy because I know my passion is not in that setting and I've been there for a year since I graduated last May, so I know I need to get out of there and go on to do what I know I will love as I've worked in schools before for years ! So thank you again for making me validated in my decision! I am hoping it all works out too and if its all online well then we all figure it out ! Congratulations to you ! Congratulations on your choice! And yeah I've heard that June they will let students know something, so I'm just constantly checking my emails lol but best of luck to you in everything you do !! And I am on the same boat as you, I have been waiting so long to get started that I just want to do it, what they might do with practicum is push it back a month or so, so like start in October rather than September but every school is different and its all a waiting game now ?‍♀️

Thanks for answering me !! my poor boyfriend has been listening to me freak out all week about this lol have you decided which school you're going to ?my mind has been all over the place because I would have to move to Boston for school so I was contemplating if I should go or not, but same as you said, I have decided to start in the Fall , no matter if its online or not, because I really want to start my career and I am just excited to get things going! My only concern is housing right now because I did get a position to be a RA, but if they don't let students move back in , then I probably won't have that position anymore, and need to look for apartments soon, so that's my new worry now lol

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE!! Hey everyone ! I have question that's open to all ! Has anyone decided what they are going to do IF schools come out and say the Fall semester will be entirely online , both classes/field? And on the same token, IF the Fall semester continues as "normal" with in person classes/field with a possibility of the semester going online, has anyone have any idea of what they might do. I know it might be too early to have an answer but I just want to see where everyone else head is at with this. Part of me wants to defer and start next year Fall 2021 when things should go back to being in person and another part of me wants to go ahead and start the semester no matter how it starts because I am very eager to get into the field and I don't want to defer a whole year just because my first year may not go as it was suppose to go. I would have to move out of state to attend school, so my head is all over the place, open to any and all thoughts, I'm curious to what my other fellow future social workers are thinking. I'm one of those optimist people as well I guess lol but yes Fall semester is going to be a little different but some schools are even considering just starting the school year in person in January 2021 (so next spring semester) so one semester is going to look a little different than the rest. I was tossing the idea back and forth of just deferring for a year, but I want to get into this field so much and as quickly as possible. In regard to BC, I just spoke with my field advisor last Thursday because of a perspective field placement and I inquired about the Fall semester and she said she is confident classes and internships will resume in the Fall but more information about the format will come out around June/July. And I think another thing we have to remember is that for graduate programs at least, the class sizes are already designed to be relatively small and most colleges don't provide on campus housing and meal plans for grad students, so another scenario I read about in a few articles is that they may allow just in person grad classes on campus for specific programs, so just keep checking your emails from your schools for any updates and hope for the best?stay safe !

Yeah my department aid in my financial aid package and my scholarship mentioned in the acceptance letter were the same, and I also haven't heard back yet about the scholarship reconsideration, I'm hoping to hear back soon !

For anyone may be attending BC, just in case your BC email is not set up, the financial aid packages are available, I finally set up my email for BC and saw that my financial aid package was available from April 4, however, I'm sure if you had to have put your deposit down to access your email or not but if you have , I think it should be fine.
